Well, thanks for that warm and friendly invite

I'll let FourDeuce know so he can see about scheduling that Friday off. The weekend is Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd, if anyone else would like to start working on have the time off.

It will be disappointing if Laura/Russell and the kids can't make it that weekend. I'll be lost without my cooking assistants.

Maybe we could have our 1st Annual Winter Buffalo River campout for those who into cool crisp mornings?

Hugs,
Marlene

Corky - that reminded me of a dear friends t-shirt (keeping in mind that she was going for champion PMS person) it said: "I have PMS, I own a handgun, any questions?"....and I do believe LaDonna might also own a handgun

dare2b -- I'm greatly looking forward to getting to see you again. Have to tell ya' -- I actually do think of you everyday. Remember the yellow tennis balls you gave juggling lessons with...they are still the dogs favorite toys, and one of the only ones they haven't managed to chew up. Still have all 5 of them...there are more dirt colored then yellow, have been chewed, tossed, and several of them have been ran over by the lawn mower. Thankfully, I keep the mower set just high enough that they survive.

I have a list somewhere of just about everyone who has ever been to one of our campouts ... I might have to get it out to re-invite everyone personally. I'd never be able to do it in one sitting off the top of my head, and I sure wouldn't want anyone to think they were not all invited back

And of course, I love meeting new fellow homesteaders, so let's just say ya'll are ALL invited and we certainly would like having you there to share with us September 22-24th - or any part thereof.

Hugs,
Marlene

No corky, no pms, just kind of wanted to get a concrete date set, for those of us that aren't retired...
Marlene, yes, I DO own a handgun, and know how to use it.... May have to use it on that ole bear soon...if I ever catch him/her on my car...had bear tracks on the hood the other day......grrrrrrrrr....my patience can only go so far.....
Congratulate me ya'll...I won 3rd place in the Mt. Magazine Butterfly festival photo contest-out of 62 entries...not too bad...won with a walking stick....

LaDonna,

Congrats on the photo contest!

Dennis and I were in Little Rock this past weekend and LaDonna called us on Saturday night to let us know how she had fared at Mt. Magazine. Anyone who has not had the honor of seeing the pics, you are missing out on some excellent photography!
She should open her own gallery.

Don

Thanks Don! I've been trying to get some good pics of the ole bear that's been hanging around...I finally saw him today, in the daylight. Usually they prowl at night, but since there isn't a whole lot of food for them, they are out all the time...I got into my car, and was on my way to work, when I realized I still had the shoulder holster, w/the 357 in it.... :baby04: I think I may have gotten in to trouble in town eh??
Tater, I meant to mention this in my other post, but I sure hope you make it this time!! I told Phoenix that you may make it this spring....but ya didn't...so hopefully you will this time!!

We just need a count of how many are relatively sure they will be there, and LaDonna or one of our core group will make the reservations for the number of sites we think we will need.
We are already into August, so if you plan on coming please let us know so the reservations can be made. Hate to wait til the last minute and not be able to get our sites next to one another.

Actually Don, didn't we decide not to do the group camping?? Or is my memory failing me....maybe Marlene will know for sure....I take off thursday, so I thought maybe me and anyone else that can get down there early can set up tents in several spots, and "claim" those....that's how we did it the first year I think.....If we are doing group camping at BP, it is probably too late to try and reserve, as those sites go WAY fast....HELP Marlene!! I thought we would try to get about where we did the first time, close to the big pavillion.....lots of shade, and such....

Just a friendly little **BUMP** as this picnic isn't too far away now!! What, about 3-4 weeks? I don't have a calendar handy...and am just too lazy to look....suffice to say, it's almost fall camping time!! I just hope it it cool then....We got 4" of rain last night....which is making it much cooler, although, the NFS is beginning to log around my place, and have dozed the road, so it is a HUGE red clay, mud bog mess.... Once the big trucks start packing it down, it'll be a good road....but in the mean time...nah....

*****BUMP***** Sheesh, I know I'm not as organized as Marlene, but really folks...I didn't go back to see who all said they were/maybe coming...anyhoo...it's about 18 days til the fall picnic!!! SO, lets get some information going on here...
I'll start, by saying that I'll probably be there on Thursday night, so that we can get some individual campsites...as the ones at Buffalo point usually fill up quick, although with it being after labor day, it may not be so bad....I think Don and Dennis said that they would be there Thursday as well....guys, check in with us to let us know. Marlene, are you going to want to come with me on Thursday or not... Phoenix has been trying to get in the car with me for about 2 weeks now....I think it is the cooler weather....
I will be attempting to make waffles with my flea market cast iron waffle maker...so, hopefully that will go okay. Not sure what food I'll bring, although I can usually be counted on for junk food, and maybe some breakfast stuff as well...may make some more of my steamboats, as they seemed to go over pretty well....if anyone can bring some fire wood, we will probably need it.....usually the pickins are pretty slim this time of year. I would bring some, but doubt that I'll have room.....
Not sure what talents/skills etc that anyone may be able to...but if there is any one coming that has an inkling of how to tat, I'd like to learn. I have a beginners kit....I think I can learn better by being shown, over looking at directions.........
Okay, so let's get ready to have a great weekend!!

Yup, we'll be there Thursday night. Buffalo Point is only about 8 miles away from us!
