Weather has been beautiful here in Lake County, planted some lettuce and spinach, put up a 12X16 hoophouse this last weekend. Garden is tilled, I have been letting the chickens pick through it to get all the grubs and things out then I will till one more time. Planted some thyme and I think I will be picking up the rest of my herbs next weekend. Oh yeah, I bought a pair of rabbits also.

Really? I used to live in Byesville too. My dad lives there now. (We're all originally from Chicago) Just came back from having ice cream at Orr's drive-in!
When did you live there?

hey, i'm here in crawford county. seeded in the greenhouse today, cukes, more tomatoes, and cilantro. After hubby got home we planted squash , and watermelon.
Is anyone putting tomatoes and Peppers in the ground yet?? I think I will wait a week, I sure could use the greenhouse space. Getting ready to order my meat chickens. does anyone know who butchers chickens in the area? There in a Mennonite family on the way into Greenwich that started doing it years ago, I guess i need to drive there to see if they still do.

If you're planning on selling them (within the state) - Darke County - King and Sons. They did my last batch last year and did a wonderful job and very reasonable. Not very convenient for me (about 200 mile round trip), but one of two fully inspected (ODA) facilities in the state. If they are for your own consumption, find a Mennonite or Amish family close by (should be really easy for you)....

Kim, '83, '84, and '85 until NCR in Cambridge went through massive layoffs. We used to live right on Main Street next to the IGA. I hear it is no longer there.
Is Orr's on 209, just outside of town? There was a little ice cream shop next to a laundromat we used to go to. They had the best deep fried mushrooms. I don't remember what it was called but dh might. I think it was real close to the Byesville Assembly of God church.
ladygreen, the family on sr 13? What is their name? Arg, CRS strikes again! MeadowView Poultry is the business. Martin family. They are still in business, at least they were in Jan when I had some ducks done. Charge is now $4 per bird. Malabar Farms takes their birds there. We were there when a truck from Malabar dropped off a load of turkeys. PM me if you need their number.

I was laid off from NCR in '80. I lived in Byesville from '78 to '88. Met DH there and moved where we are now.
I lived on 1st St., 1/2 block from IGA in '82 when my son was born, in '83 we moved over to Spruce St.
The IGA building is still there but it's sitting empty right now. I shopped there for so many years!
Yup, that is Orr's. Next time I go there, I'll eat some mushrooms for you - they're still the best! I did many loads of laundry next door too, while my son played under the folding tables. It's still there but they just tore down the car wash beside it. Looks weird now.
LOL! Small world!

I don't believe it! I bet we've met before. I did all my shopping at IGA because it was so close. Dh was laid off in early '85. We lived in the little house right beside the IGA, toward the traffic light. Our landlords nephew was on the Byesville PD. Dh had a blue Mustang Cobra that for a while was parked in the yard next to the house. I used to walk to the library and set and read when ds was just a little baby.
Dh worked at NCR from '79 to '85. He was an assembler. He still has his button from the one cash register, 2952 or something like that. "We made it happen, NCR 2952". Yellow (maybe white, it was poorly cared for) with black letters.
