Forum for early American life.

I would like to invite everybody here to Lost In Time, a forum dedicated to life in early America. It covers blacksmithing, timberframing, and pretty much anything that the first settlers to America would have done. This is a new forum, so there are many areas to be developed, so if this something that interests you stop by and contribute and make suggestions. I am trying to keep history alive, as well as learn the history of other parts of the country. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the forum.

I'll certainly be giving this forum more than the quick glance that is all I have time for today! Looks good, Dave.

This isn't like a treehouse with a "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" sign, is it? :nono: Hope you are planning to have boards for some of the traditional women's skills too and perhaps one for "olden days" family life topics. :hobbyhors

Looks like an interesting place to visit & learn from.
How about a thread for the women folk & home?

mamajohnson 05/05/07 04:54 PM

Looks good, I will be back to check it when I have a bit more time.

Can Canadians play too? :)

Dave S. 05/05/07 06:15 PM

Everybody is allowed here! This is why I posted this in here, I don't know what everybody would like to see. I assume things like weaving or spinning would be popular. I am planning to have a Colonial Kitchen section as well. There is a suggestion box in the Q&A section, just post your ideas in there. I am glad to hear that people like the forum.

Yes, Canadians are welcome. :) I figure that life in Canada probably wasn't a lot different from life in the US at that time, just colder. ;)

I like the idea of a forum focusing on early American/colonial life. This is an absolutely fascinating time in our country's history, and there were so many trades going on. I would love to see some place like Williamsburg where reenactors do things in the traditional, authentic way. I don't possess a lot of skills that would date to that time, but I do have some knowledge of how some things were done.

I would also join readily if there were a ladies/home type forum or two.

Beltane 05/05/07 07:55 PM

Thank you ~ I will certainly visit. :)

Dave S. 05/06/07 09:14 AM

I still need suggestions for the requested "ladies/home" topics. If you want a new board, just put a suggestion in the suggestion box please, and I can set it up.

Can Europeans join in the fun too? One that weaves, knits and makes wine?

Dave S. 05/06/07 12:33 PM

Sure! I have a "Textiles" board setup. I will be constantly editing and adding boards to suit users needs.

Good work Dave..I've observed that a large number of country folks believe they were born into the wrong century, and have great love and respect for earlier times. Odds are this Forum will grow and become a favorite. I couldn't find a listed subject that I wasn't keenly interested in...Glen

How about gardening?

Dave,

I registered and then changed the e-mail address. I never got the email to re-activate my account. Can you delete my account & I'll re-register? I registered as Wendy.

Looks interesting. Thanks for sharing it.

Dave,

I could possibly help you with woman's things, for many years I was a Rev War reenactor and studied extensively on women in the 18th Century. Please PM me and let me now how I can help you!

waiting for my email to confirm registration. Looking forward to seeing this.

Dave, I am unable to register for some reason. I keep getting a screen telling me to validate my e-mail or one telling me I need to type in my user name. Can you help? I registered before and never received an e-mail, so I re-registered thinking I might have typed in my e-mail address wrong as I have not had this one long and sometimes type my old one by habit. Thanks, I'm looking forward to using the forum.

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

thequeensblessing 06/11/07 01:21 PM

Dave S. 06/11/07 04:39 PM
