Water is a very sought after commodity these days.

Corporations have been buying up water rights all over the world, and I cannot believe our country is allowing it to happen -

Oh heck, sure I can ----------

I have thought sometimes may be we should just try to find us the most backward country in the world and go there - no one will bother us.

How wrong can I be!! I saw a news program about the corporations buying water rights in Africa - poor part of Africa. In fact there were wells the Peace Corp had put in for villagers and now they have to pay for that water.

I read that Bechtel has or is trying to buy Iraq's water.

So true. When I lived in AZ. the very first thing you would see in a developing area. The Very First thing put in IS The Golf Course. No kidding. It is like "If You Built It They Will Come" Truer words have never been spoken.
Right on the outskirts, in the desert, you see the land being cleared and then very next thing is the sod being put down, and being watered, because the next step is to make the 9 to 18 hole course~! Even Before one house one building of ANY KIND is put up the course is put in and finished. Forrrrrrrr
AND still they don't have enough courses to handle all the people that want to golf, Most of the time you have to wait a long time just to get a "tee time"
And the number of swimming pools, HUGE Fountains etc. In fact one city is even called "Fountain City" All that evaporation going on has raised the humidity by quite a few percentages these last 20 years.~!
And some lawns are not watered by conventional sprinklers, They are "flooded" by using CAP water (water from the CO. river).!

My son is very political and is devstated by the way the country is going. He said a few years ago, " Wonder what will happen when they don't need us?" The laws that are being pass ed now are a good indication. Food, water and shelter are the basics. The gov. of Co. works for you. He can't dictate starvation for a few bucks.
