Well I tried it out. Oh my God why haven't I boughten one of these years ago? It did take longer then 30 minutes but what I done with it would have taken me about 3 days to do with the walk-behind rear tine tiller I was using. I had also bought the middle buster to use for making rows. I had rows laid off in no time. Can't wait to dig my taters up with it.

Tomorrow, March 17th, is planting tater day.

Spoiled

r.h. in okla. I'm glad the machine won't out so well for you.

I enjoy mine so much that my BCS tractor and tiller aren't used much.

I have a 58 inch wide Caroni for use on the back of my 1720 Ford tractor. Works great in my sandy soil but works my tractor much to hard if I try to till clay soil. Managed to get my daughter and son in laws lawn in on clay soil, but it wasn't easy. Disked it, chiseled it, and still nearly too tough for the horsepower of my little tractor.

My tiller is quite a bit wider than my tractor. If someone can post pictures for me I can email a shot showing it having just tilled in some wheat as a green manure crop.

Windy in Kansas, Seeing your little 1720 makes me sad.I bought one about 7 years ago and it was the best little tractor. I used it every time I had a chance. About 3 years ago we sold one place and bought another and i felt like i needed to get rid of the ag tires and get something a little smaller so I traded it and bought a Kubota B7610 with industrial tires and a five foot belly mower. I can't tell you how many times i wish i had kept the 1720 and either bought another smaller 4WD tractor with a bellly mower or a zero turn mower to cut grass with. The B7610 can't hold a candle to what that 1720 would do.

Chuck, I sure enjoy mine 1720. A number of years before I had a 1500 Ford also with 4 wheel assist. It was gutless, but the 1720 is unbelievable for power for its size. In my sandy soil I pull a 6' disk as deep as I want at 5 mph. Use a 6' Land Pride rotary mower without working the tractor except when the weeds are extremely tall. Have even mower some weeds taller than I was while standing up on the platform. Yes, fun rig that does all I ask of it.

Orange and blue go together, maybe it is time for a companion.

That is a really wide 45hp tractor! The usual tractor I see in that hp range is covered by a 5 ft tiller! It is interesting to hear how people set up their equipment for different purposes.

That's good stuff! Wider tools make the job so much faster!

I bought a middle buster last year--used it for making my rows for asparagus, rhubarb, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant. It was well worth the $140 I paid for it.

My latest acquisition is a 10ft wide, 3pt, 9-shank chisel plow. Can't wait for the ground to dry out enough to use it. If I have any drainage problems due to a plow pan, the chisel should take care of it.

photo of my Maschio tiller. It has a 4-speed gearbox, I set it for the highest tine speed so I can till in a higher gear and the tiller can keep up with the tractor.

9 ft disc I use for primary tillage--1 or 2 passes depending on conditions. Used it in almost too wet conditions last weekend, just kept the tractor in 4WD 6th gear at from 800-1700 rpm--i could go faster where it was drier. Slower where muddy because too fast and it gags the discs. Just bought a 9-shank chisel plow for primary tillage

Couple passes with the disc and then 1-or2 with this coil tine cultivator.

Then 1 or 2 passes with the cultipacker to make a seedbed. I use the cultipacker after I rototill, also to level and smooth the seedbed.

I don't use the tiller very much anymore as the disc/coil tine are way faster.
