Well I found out something interesting this morning. I went to town to pick up my chainsaw I had cleaned up and new carb. kit put in. On the way their I stopped at a feed and farm supply store and checked out there tillers. They had two rear tine tillers there. One was a Poulan, the other a Husquarna. I got to looking real close at them and realized they both were the very exact same machine. Only difference was the color and name on them. Same engine, same frame, same trans, same tines. The Husquarna was about $50. more in price.

Then I stopped at sears to check out there tillers. I found the very exact same machine there as the poulan and husqaurna. Only it was about $50 higher then the HUsqarna at the feed store. $100 more then the Poulan. Only difference was paint color and name.

All three had a Brigs and STraton engine and called the 825 series.

I then went to the small engine repair shop and asked the fellar who runs the place which rear tine tiller was the best to get cause I had just found the same tiller with 3 different names on them. When I told him which ones they were he said he highly recommends I should stay away from them. He said the transmission go out on them fast and it will cost about $200 dollars to fix. I think he mentiones they are originally WeedEater brand with different names on them. He also said the new Troybuilt tillers will break their tines easy if you don't have soft ground.

He also he couldn't recommend any new tiller cause they are just about all cheap made anymore.

So now I don't know which tiller I should get.

Troy bilt, here.

So sorry about the fire! Our garage burned in 1996; it housed our first Troy Bilt. One of the first things we bought after the fire was a new Troy Bilt -- the horse model.

The only piece of Poulan equipment I own is my rear tine tiller. 7 years and it's still doing a great job. Noticed Rural King had them for $550 at this time. Not a Poulan fan, but no problems yet!

I'm gettin the Troy Bilt Pro-Line FRT. It IS cheaper than I'd like, but as the "new" ones go...it's as good as the others I've looked at. It's basicly the Pony with a Honda engine.
Seems to have a good warranty if it isn't up to par.

DO NOT get a new troy-bilt they are nothing but junk!!!!! if you can get a older troy-bilt (before the mtd buyout ) do it, they are really reliable. good luck

I've got an ariens rear tine that I bought used for $300 and I like it just fine. Seems real solid. Looks a lot like this one.

My favorite?

Honda. Real durable, good power to weight, seems to do a better job on first pass than the Troy-built, MTD and Ariens stuff I've used.
