I can't imagine any state west of the Rockies that would have harsher weather than back East. It is pretty mild here. Wonderful weather, no bugs, lots of open space, no or few natural disasters, but terribly expensive.

Ohio has four seasons, usually mild winters, occasional tornadoes (mostly to the north and west). Southern and eastern Ohio are hilly and consequently fewer tornadoes. 53 acres on the ridge above me just sold for @ $40,000, and is being
resold with the asking price of $72,000. (No electricity and quite rugged and hilly) but there is affordable land in Ohio. Good luck

No, I live in lower Mich - Actually just on the ohio border, but have been looking at land in the Cadillac/Travese City area for about 2 years now. I'm looking more for hunting property than farming, so havn't found the right one yet, but there are tons out there for other purposes. (farming, houses, ect).
