I saw about 25-30 wild turkeys in the field yesterday. It's 71 right now. Trees are budding, flowers are blooming. Sure doesn't look and feel like I'm delusional, although all this does seem odd for February.

Just checked the weather forecast and it is supposed to get up to 90 degrees next week....the weather forecast is always about 7-10 degrees cooler than we actually get to....gulp! This week we're in the 80's. How about ya'll form some of that snow into ice cubes and send it down this way? Ya might throw in a couple of lemons and some sugar. We're gonna need it. I may have to become a reverse snow bird if this keeps up.

We're under a nice blanket of snow here, too. Weird weather this winter! I planted peas last week- should have put in some "snow" peas...

I'm sitting here waiting for our next storm. (ARGH!) They're saying this one could get quite ugly. We are under a blizzard warning from tomorrow morning (well I guess now it's this morning) at 6 AM thru Friday at 6 PM.

I'd have settled for rain.

Snow here right now changing to freezing rain later today. It's snowing so hard right now I can't even see my garden area 20 yards from the house.

I was laughing at the title of the post because I can't even IMAGINE spring starting this early!

We will be under a foot or more of snow until at least into April ... if it goes much earlier than that, the farmers worry because there won't be enough moisture on the fields. We always hope for a nice slow melt so the rivers don't overflow their banks and so the moisture can soak into the ground nice and steady. The almanac says we are in for a wet spring, so I'm just as happy to have the snow .... spring around here is mud central! At least the frozen stuff you can walk on without your boots getting left behind in a mud pit!

Now summer ... ahh, that will be wonderful.

I've changed over from wearing long sleeved shirts for warmth, to long sleeved shirts to keep from getting sunburned... It was up in the 80's last week when we built the goat barn....

Well we made it thru the blizzard unscathed. Survived another one. It was rough on the northern parts of the state tho and many people were without power for several days.

They called the National Guard out to help find and rescue stranded motorists. Truckers had to pull off the interstate because of icy conditions getting so bad, they ended up closing Interstates 35 and 80. There were so many truckers the truck stops were filled and they ended up having to use mall parking lots, Goodyear Tire parking lot, Menards, etc. Looked like packed sardines in an aerial view the news channels showed on TV.

One Iowa town had stranded motorists from the interstate staying at a YMCA and another facility and the town people were feeding them all. Another town that was without power for several days had one large generator powering a community center and the townfolks were served 3 warm meals a day, food donated by the local grocery store.

The city had snow plows escorting the National Guard crews, clearing the roadways for them.

Now we're starting to thaw.
