Sheepish ... you are right. I don't spread in winter just as Ford Major said. I do however pile my manure once in a great while in a field such as now because my storage bunk is full. It is full because I couldn't spread this past fall due to our wet conditions and my concerns over "runoff"
I bed the animals heavy with straw so as to tie up as much of the manures goodness as possible...letting it all run away is counter productive to good soil management
