Unfortunately, where I live, about an hour south of Indy, we got freezing rain for about 12 hours followed by about 2 to 3 inches of snow. No power for most of Tuesday. Lots of downed trees. Got the chain saw out to help a neighbor who's driveway was blocked by some big trees that came down. I'll take snow over ice any day.

Nice truck Bob. Ford. Good man, lol. Thanks for the pic. Very cute daughter. There's not much more heart warming that a smiling child.
18" of snow...very nice. I like snow, and I love plowing.

Okay, we have been waiting for snow. We have been begging for snow. Blame us. We got snow. It appears that we have over 30" now. I just walked my "shoveled" path to the barn and was up to my thighs in snow. Hauling that bucket of hot water was not easy this morning. The dogs (ACDs) are over their backs and loving it. They seem to think they are tunnel dogs or something. Who knows.
DH has been plowing our yard for 2 hours. DS is shoveling. I cut that out after finding the stairs and covered porch (covered with a roof and snow!). The chickens are just sitting in the barn wondering what the devil they are going to do today now. I opened the door and they are just looking out. Wind is heavy, 3 foot on the ski slopes. Sounds like winter in Vermont FINALLY!

Seems many of us are in the same boat. We ended up with around 17" , so they say. Its hard to tell when all you can see is 5' and 6' high snow drifts around. A church friend came out with a big back hoe to dig us out yesterday. The drifts are incredible. Don't remember a storm like this since the 70's. Took pics to send to my parents in Houston.
Stay safe everyone. More snow on the way here Saturday.

Wow! New England really got hit hard. Hang in there you guys!
We ended up with around 16 inches. Schools out again today because of the cold, I guess (as Bob said, single digits). The biggest problem now is the snow banks. I just went to the hospital (my doctor's office is in the building), and there are piles of snow, probably 10-15 feet high taking up a bunch of parking spaces all over. No one seems to be able to guess where the lines are either, so the whole lot is chaos! Most of the intersections have big banks blocking the sight lines too. Hope it packs down or melts in a hurry! I have no idea where those people in upstate NY are putting all the snow!

Well, the storm is over. It is still snowing very lightly but I don't expect much more. We woke up to snow half way up the windows but that was due to drifting. We had only really gotten about 34" of new snow yesterday. I spend the morning plowing and shoveling with the kids' help. They're now having fun playing on the huge piles of snow.
Cheers

The spring
I guess you can blame it on me. I think this is the most winter I've seen since we moved here six years ago. Maybe it is the powers that be getting me ready for next winter It's actually been melting yesterday and today. Drippy and above freezing, which means that the roads are even more slippy. Oh, well -- you can't have it all, I suppose.
I hear Sask is having a lovely winter, too
