Google has a newer version now called "Google Suggest" that give you a drop down list of options as you type in your question or phrase.

If you type in "Maremma Sheepdog" the first site that comes up will have a picture of one of my dogs

I'm glad this came up! I wondered what other search engines I could try. So, I can only tell you that I HATE MSN search, it doesn't find much of anything and if it should find something, it asks you if that's what you are looking for. A waste of time.

Sorry to vent, it's been aggravating me!

I'm off to try some of your suggestions!

I voted for Google, because that's what I use 99% of the time - I have the Google task bar up top on my browser

I do use AltaVista for image searches -

Wink Searching engines

When I read about the searching google does IN YOUR COMPUTER I decided there were plenty of other search engines out there. I use mamma.com

Bigger isn't always better.

Lots of dogpile.com users adding their vote in the "other" category. I wonder why this meta searcher is so popular?

mamma.com

I've been using Mamma.com since somebody mentioned it earlier. It is a pretty good site. They have improved a lot since I last used them years ago. Thanks for reminding me!

I usually use google. I've used dogpile in the past, but I found that often I couldn't find what I wanted in the first few results from any search engine. Ahhh, the woes of trying to find a combination of words to search for that include what you're looking for and nothing else. It becomes even more difficult when it is not a common topic.

Oh man i really liked northern light. I wonder what happened to it. Anyways I use to use yahoo mainly til they changeg the yahoo page and it takes so long to load for me now. I downloaded the Google toolbar and just use it to search. It also block popups and has a spell checker and highlighter on it. So its pretty much my main search engine

I used to use AltaVista all the time, but now the Google thing is right on my browser and I use that.

I really liked AltaVista, though.

Interesting that not a single person uses AOL as their starting point. Thanks everyone!
