When I saw the unfinished house & dirty dishes in the sink I said to myself "there has to be a story here". Amish women don't let one dust bunny hide underneath a bed, let alone let dirty dishes fill the sink! This has to be a bachelor household!

In taking another look at photographs the blocks in the pantry seem to be laid in the typical manner. The vertical stacked ones may be at an open (walk-in) end of the building.

Something which I also noticed is how low the windows are, at least on the side shown. Bottom is right at ground level. If there were a couple of feet of snow I suspect there would be the potential for water intrusion during melts.

No insulation in ceiling I can see.

Note roof is elevated towards center. Thus, could not readily be used as a floor for an upward addition.

go to your local (USDA FSA) Farm Service Agency office they have programs for first time farm buyers so you might be able to get a loan through them.
