Lots of fish in this little lake - it doesn't get much action in summer or winter - it's too far for most to drive and then hike. It's a neat little place, though.

We drilled 5 or 6 holes I think, for the three of us.

Funny story - we did have a bald eagle swoop down within 30 feet of us and steal a fish!

My husband says that usually when he goes ice fishing the ice is 2.5 feet max. He thought he remembered the ice there that day being a big thicker than usual but not as thick as I remembered. I'm terrible with distances!!!

I've never had an eagle steal a fish, but have had them steal a duck while duck hunting. It was dead and floating in the water just outside the decoys. It came from nowhere, grabbed the bird and then sat in a tree about 100 yards away and ate it.

Pretty cool!

Yeah the lame thing about the birds get the fish like that is that you have to count it in your bag limit AND if you aren't being careful enough to prevent it, you can be cited for "feeding wildlife". *sigh*

The thing just swooped out of nowhere, like whistler described!
