Hehe just thinkin my long gone gramps would of gotten a kick out of this thread that man loved gettin free wood, he would walk his bulldog through the woods behind his place and if he found some i would help him bring it ou of the woods. Poor guy tho my nanny, from england, liked the wood from the wood guy that was delivered from the truck n she didnt like gramps bringing home wood from the forest, because it was dirty n probally had bugs , shed say lol.

Peace

Most army depots will issue passes that allow civilians to cut up downed trees. In the state of Ky. you can also get passes to cut wood in the state and national forests. Downed trees are what is allowed to be harvested. Sawmills here sell slabs for 10.00 a truckload. And most farmers have downed trees they would be glad for someone to cut them up and haul off. Just need to ask.

I was loading some blocking at a business I had delivered to, the boss came along and asked if I was going to take all of it.I told him nope" just what I brought in" thinking he was upset about me taking it he then offered me $25 a palllet load to haul off the extra.I was close to home and burning wood that year so I got paid $50 bucks aload to heat my place with wood that year And they LOADED IT!
Gotta love those city folks!
