The only person I've physically met on HT has been Marsh. And that was because of her daughter's fossil project. Fiddlekat and I went to school at the same time, and we tried meeting at the Marshfield fair the year that she went south, but we couldn't find each other.
On BYC, another chicken board that I haunt, we have yearly Chickenstocks, where the state's chicken enthusiasts meet, eat and swap or sell birds or just to show them off.

I met Buspete, and almost met Morrison Corner, we were supposed to meet up at the sheep and wool festival, and missed each other by a couple hours.

I've been to every spring and fall Buffalo River Campout for 5 years now, and the impromptu get togethers inbetween. Have enjoyed meeting everyone at all of them! The first one, at Buffalo Point, was supposed to be a Saturday spring picnic sort of thing. People started showing up Friday night and didn't leave until Sunday! Had a couple more before the official 1st fall one and it's been going strong since!

Yeah! And she might sic her horse-dogs on you and she has more than you do.
I call them that because I just can-t decide which they are for sure.

This fall DS, a friend and I drove north to wishomesteader's place to pickup some laying hens. We were quite impressed with their homestead and have nothing but good things to say about them. Next we visited rainedaze and loaded up some hay. Luckily her strapping son was there to help us get the round bale into our trailer. Although gravity helped, I don't think we would have managed without their help! If all homesteaders are as nice as the ones we've met so far, I'd say bring on the get-together!

(But watch-out for GreenCountyPete, he gets me in more trouble with DW!)

I met Ms. Trish, who lives near me. She was great, but I have a DD that requires so much of my energy and focus that I am not really able to devote time elsewhere. Fla. is so spread out, it would probably have to be divided into zones for get-togethers.

You caught Vera giving a rabbit mouth to mouth after you whacked it.
Thats it isn't it?

I met several people from another homesteading group at a get-together several years ago, and they are some of my best friends! Like someone stated, when we met it was as though we were life-long friends, no akward moments whatsoever! Two of these folks are from KY and climbed hill and dale looking at properties with me. We found the perfect one and they will be living within 30 minutes of me! It is so nice to get together with like-minded folks!
