Ok, I'm getting visions of old Twilight Zone episodes, Cujo and Jack Nickelson saying "Heres Johnny". I hope everything is ok out there and someone went down to check that dog and pups in the basement. Think I'll let the dogs roam the house tonight and sleep with the shotgun and have DW sleep by the bedroom door.

She hasn't written since nearly 9am 2 days ago...I'm worried. That's the worst thing with the internet is you make friends, then if they disappear, you don't know if they could have gotten in a car accident and are laying in the hospital or worse....or if a chupacabra carried their family away to their dens....*sigh* I really hope she posts soon. I would have said a house pet turned stray too, BUT unless the chewing and the 2 "creatures" were two completely seperate events, I'd say that they're probably coyotes/brush wolves. They can get pretty tall sometimes, and are very lanky. Very fearless as well, and a pack creates a serious problem for a dog. They've been known to bait dogs out to kill them even. Same w/ wolves. If they heard the pups, people smell may not prove much of a threat to them if they're wanting to get at to kill and/or eat those pups. Survival of the fittest, they figure. At any rate, hopefully she posts soon and updates us!

I went to Jena's website that she has in her profile, her phone number is HERE

Maybe someone can call her and see if she's ok?

I also googled illinois weather and see that over a half million customers in Ill and Mo don't have any electricity due to the ice storms, she may not be able to get online.

Rats! I didn't see this until just now, and it's WAY too late to call and see if she's OK. Did anyone call earlier? I'll call in the morning unless I hear.

No ice in her area, she is only about 50 mike from me. If she is kidnapped or drug away by wolves I am sure I will read about it in the paper I have a sister about 15miles north of her that lives alone in the country and have not heard anything negative from her.

So, has anyone made the call today? I want to, but I mostly only read here - rarely post. I doubt she would have a clue who I was and I definately don't want to appear stalkerish! I am worried though...

Can you get a big live trap from somewhere? There's inexpensive ($45.)security cameras at WalMart you could set up and watch.

Sorry guys. I have been working a lot of hours and never got back online until now.

I got someone to go check the basement that morning. We didn't find anything. We also boarded up the door. I am getting a new door in the next week or so, but for now, it's plywood. Works for me.

There hasn't been any more incidents. Last night it snowed. I came home at about 4am (IHOP will let you go home early if you have a nervous breakdown from sleep deprivation when facing a room full of drunken pancake seekers. I think 3, 14+ hour days in a row is my limit).

In the snow, I saw deer tracks up around the house. That could be what my son saw that night. I wouldn't have imagined that the deer would come up to the house, but apparently they do. I didn't see any other tracks, but then I wasn't looking either. I just wanted to get to bed.

I was pretty freaked out that morning, but it's been quiet since. I still don't imagine a coyote would try to get in the house, but then I didn't think the deer would be hanging out on my porch either. Whatever it was, it doesn't have opposable thumbs, can't open doors, so we are ok.....until summer when the windows are open! (erie music)

I really didn't mean to cause a drama thread. Sorry.

Jena

Glad you are ok, and honest, we love drama threads, it keeps our tired old blood moving.
More excitment then I've had in a month.
