Its a tad chilly in Maine this morning

Its -16 but -34 with windchill. Yikes! I am not going out of the house again until April LOL.

How cold is it where you are?

Rcrewofmany 01/17/07 06:33 AM

They predicted -4 for this morning. I thought it would get down to -8 as they are never right. Well as of now it's +1 and that is the lowest it has gotten so far. But our temps usually keep falling till 8am and then start to rise. I think we didn't get as cold as we didn't get the amount of snowfall they predicted either.

You can keep the -16!! I wouldn't be venturing out anywhere in that. What is the high supposed to be today then for you? We are heading up to 25.

mwhit 01/17/07 06:42 AM

I'm at -21 right now. I have no idea what the windchill is, but it doesn't really matter-- once it's this cold, it's just bitter!

janandkenny 01/17/07 06:50 AM

it's 1 here.

Patty0315 01/17/07 06:52 AM

At least -15 here but no wind as of yet. The next county over has a bad windchill tho.

Stay warm , Patty

henfruit 01/17/07 07:00 AM

its minus -8 here. had to break ice in the animals water buckets. it will be a keep the wood stove full kind of a day.

doohap 01/17/07 07:03 AM

WOW! We're burning up here at 23! :donut: :coffee:

perennial 01/17/07 07:07 AM

I have to laugh as when i was out this morning and people were saying how
awfully cold it was 22 degrees. We moved here to VA from the coast of New England as you all know and are experiencing real COLD weather.

Stay warm. The weather here is crazy - sunday it was 70 degrees - i was out edging a garden and now they say the winter weather is here to stay. I'm just praying for snow i miss it so much.

gilberte 01/17/07 07:27 AM

We've been spoiled these last couple years, wait till we get a real Maine winter when it ain't cold unless it's -25 or better :)

Country Doc 01/17/07 07:35 AM

Its 26 in East Texas and I am dying. I would never make a good Yankee.

ecbreed 01/17/07 07:39 AM

It is 6 with a wind chill of -6 here in Mass..

sue currin 01/17/07 07:41 AM

-10 right now with about 5" of snow on the ground that is blowing around. truck had a hard time starting this morning. Went and checked on the cabin, not going out any more today. It is supposed to get up to 5 today, we'll see.

perennial 01/17/07 08:01 AM

I defintely miss the crazy weather in MA. The weather here is incredible throughout the year - we have very long fall and spring which are my favorites. But, i think i'm the only one here waiting for winter to come and something exciting to happen weather wise.

I'm used to those Nor' Easters (Nor Eastas). We have our sledding path picked out in our new yard. I'm hoping with the colder temps to stay here for a bit that we'll get snow and it will stick.

Take a nice breath for me of that freezing air so it makes your nose tingle inside - so fresh and pure.

I wouldn't live anywhere else but where we are, but i think i miss the snow storms more than the ocean. Nothing like getting 3 feet of snow and having to shovel out your driveway and then your car because you haven't got a garage - the last winter we were there 04 - we got so much snow, i couldn't toss a shovel full on the embankment because it was so far over my head.

Well anyway, sorry for the trip down memory lane - stay warm and cozy.

debra in ks 01/17/07 08:11 AM

We've got 8 degrees in NE KS at 8:15 AM. Supposed to get up to 24 today.

A'sta at Hofstead 01/17/07 08:29 AM

Was -28 here without the windchill, somewhere well below that with. It's up a bit from there. Coldest I've seen yet was -55 a few years back.

MaineFarmMom 01/17/07 10:07 AM

-12° was the lowest I saw here this morning. It was up to -3° when I came in. It's a short blast of Arctic air. We're going back into the mid 20's tomorrow.

happycat 01/17/07 10:27 AM

Gosh, it's 5 here this morning and now I feel pretty toasty.

I had to buy water because we didn't have any. Oh well. Thank goodness fo the coal stove. Woke up, it was nice, house all dark but warm.

james dilley 01/17/07 03:49 PM

Quiver - be sure to bring your swimming suit when you come to Arkansas!

Temp here is only in the teens and there's no ice on the river.

sullen 01/18/07 08:23 AM

OK, I give in, I went and dug out a heat lamp and screwed it in. Poor things, the water inside their house was frozen solid.

Chas in Me 01/18/07 08:41 AM

You're going to have to change your name to "SHIVEROF10" LOL.

Chas, who dug out his down filled coat for the first time this winter, up here in Maine.

Its been a tad chilly outside but nice and HOT! on the inside. 97 degrees in the woodstove rm yesterday! -10 and windchill was okay provided we dressed for it at chore time but glad to not be milking in such weather...

We've had the cookstove on for a couple days in the sunroom and cooked chowder, beef stew and pintos and banana/zuchini/nut/blueberry bread... :)

Glad to have the ground frzn finally....the wet and the muck has been too much.

It was beautiful today and warmed to 25F....snow coming...its all good.

I have 6 big/fat bellies in the barn waiting to bring in Spring sooner than later methinks. (kids)

OH! the seasons bring appreciation! :)

ET1 SS 01/18/07 07:38 PM

Driving is nice too.

The roads are finally all smoothed out, no potholes.

:)

Water fills them and freezes in place, plows rake them off flush and a layer of slush smooths it all over.

Nice riding weath-ah.

pyrnad 01/19/07 07:20 AM

Three inches of fresh snow this am here. School cancelled. Finally no more mud. It is a little warmer today 31 degrees.

sullen 01/19/07 12:17 PM
