Buffalo River

Got home in time for Corky to Milk. I got some sleep after removing a whole troop of ticks from my gorgeous body. Now I look like the measles have infected rare places like between my toes, behind the knees, in the arm pits and on the back of my neck. These little creatures are the cause of so many people planning their camping trips to Holiday Inn. What fun can that be? No stars, clouds or moon , and oh yes no camp fire smoke to get in the eyes. I am having a rough time with my eyes from the smoke. Yes!! I could have moved, but the wood smoke smelled good, and worked to keep away the flying insects( not the ticks).
It is now 7:30 and we just got back from Baker Creek. Noah was having a good sale and there was alot of people. For those that haven't been for awhile, better plan for to go to their fall EVENT. Yes a big event, they have built several new buildings and added lots of music shows. Someone mentioned it is becoming Silver Dollar City north.
Hope the left behinds made it home from the River by now. Let us hear from you.

Even though I did put in more sitting and visiting time, and had very special clean up help, by the time we had gone to see Don and Dennis's place and all the new things they have been making, stopped for a burger at a neat old timey driven inn in Marshall, unloaded, visited a while more, got a bath...no more energy for me.

It was an exceptionally pleasent event. Even if the controlled burn that smoked out most of Missouri earlier this year seemed to have not so much killed off the ticks but simply drove them to the campsite...grrrrr no love for them little buggers. The weather was near perfect, the river was running nicely, the showers were hot, the ground not to uncomfortable for sleeping, the people are all great friends, the food was tasty, got to see some dear friends I'd been missing....live is good.

Thanks, Corky for the job of a hubby surprise ... I figured if you lost your nerve, Milt would step in...now that would have been an even bigger surprise. And I'm glad you found the missing spoon.

Laura, how many of the new recipes have the kids made so far? They certainly have a love for food preparation. With the exception of the beautiful teenage daughter, who has more important things to do at this time of her life. But then she is doing the Home Ed thing this year, so all is not lost in preparing her to be even more independent in her future. Look out world she's on her way.

Thanks again, everyone who was able to make it for sharing one awesome weekend with me.

Hugs,
Marlene

Sorry I missed the trip to Dennis and Dons place.

I thought of that when we got home.

You boys will just have to come here and bring the magazines to me and see my place. Then I guess we will just have to plan a trip just to come and see your place.

LaDonna, if you are on vacation next week you can just hop in the car and come on up.
Let me know so we will not be running around somewhere and miss you. Also if I know you are comming I will plan a good cookout for you.
You are welcome to camp in my yard or sleep on my couch too.

Later, we will have the cabin. That will be nice.

Beautiful weather, great food, and the best part of it was, of course, the wonderful people! Ya'll are more family than friends.

I don't know that I laugh, cry, and relax any more than at one of our campouts. the conversations around the late night fire are alone worth the drive to get there!

Glad to hear everyone made it home safely.

We love ya'll,

Don and Dennis

Another great one as usual!!! Made it home about 10:30, what will all the pleasant side trip diversions!!!
Marlene, as usual, great company!! Just hope you don't miss Ranger Bob too much!!!! Love your rapier wit, and thinking too......
Corky and great and mighty sultan, sure glad to see you guys, and I just may take you up on your offer to see your place! I'm taking 6-7 days off, and some is devoted to just my sister and I, but I bet I can squeeze in a day at ya'lls place........
Laura, always good to see you, and your wonderful kids....they are a great bunch. Hope you enjoyed your 'free day' today! I will try to get those pictures done and sent off to you soon.
Don and Dennis, just love you guys to pieces!! A big thanks for the loan of the laptop, and the help with my sick one! Now, if I can just get on the dang thing!! I took a bunch of pictures, but haven't been able to upload them just yet.....
Joe, Shelia, Beth, Cheyenne, and Leann, it was, as always, good to see you guys....just wish you would be able to stay longer....
For those that couldn't make it for whatever reason, you sure missed a great time...and some COLD water! One of these times, we are gonna just HAVE to do a float trip!! This time would have been the best time to...so let's think on doing that ok?
I am already ready for the next one....

we're home, i've enjoyed my day off. tomorrow it's off to the dr.

the kids are with their dad, and you'll be proud of me to know i DIDN"T stuff them full of junk food right before dropping them off. so, no, marlene, they haven't tried any of the new recipes. i'm sure they will, however.

they were all tired by the time we got here, and i'm doing ok. russell had made me a new milkstand while i was gone, in between his army stuff, so that was a nice surprise.

had a blast at the picnic, as usual. found a few more ticks, slept hard, even thru the storm last nite. we didn't get blown away, all is safe on our little place.

ladonna, i look forward to those pics.

the trip to the rock house was beautiful, and the kids loved it. they want to go back next time and explore the different caves inside it.

Laura, glad to know you all got home safe.

I am glad the kids had a good time on the hike. They might have a few bruises. I think they all fell at least once but they did not complain.
Everyone jumped right back up and said "I'm fine".
Hug them for me. I am very proud of them.

They didn't seem to mind the cold water later either.

Oh yeah, you did good too Laura but then I don't think you even slipped once.

I am still running a little slower today I think.
Maybe it is because I pushed too much in to the weekend and got so far behind at home. I feel like I will never catch up.

I got a call from my one remaining Aunt and, cousins that I have not seen in years will be there in the morning so we are headed to Springfield in the morning. Jeri is my very favorite cousin. He is flying in from LA today, and I would like to see his Brother and Sister too. So I still won't get caught up here.

corky, you are retired. you have time to catch up.

i didn't slip at all. and i really think all those hours in the gym paid off on that hike.

the kids do have some bruises, but jess got no blisters, and his foot is fine. (the one he stepped on the nail with)

that is a beautiful hike, next time i'll have to make sure my batteries are fresh, card is empty, and we have some good flashlights to go explore those caves a little more.
