Loved the story....don't care whether it is fiction, fantasy, or real. In fact, it made this thread even more interesting having readers dissect the story as though it was a lit class on Hemingway!

That road looks a lot better than the road I lived on in NC and I rarely carry a pocketbook - just my CC case with some cash. Fantasymaker - would some Private Property signs help to solve your problem?

Well I actually read through this thread. I must be bored. People wouldnt believe my driveway either.

As to the soap opera, nothing new under sun. I used to have Chuck the Drunk, his son and daughter-in-law living next door. Have the windows open and you got an earful in spring and summer. I was married back then and my wife saw daughter-in-law foolin around with some unknown guy down at end of driveway. Then after daughter-in-law gone, father and son drunk and chasing each other around with pocket knives one night around 1AM. Chuck wanted to take refuge in my house. I said no, then he wanted to call sheriff. I let him. Sheriff called back and I explained situation and how to get here. He showed and I guess put a scare into both of them. (that was back when some local sherrifs still had common sense, putting them in jail wouldnt have done bit of good...) Wont even go into how one winter they were driving old car with bald tires. They'd take run at snowy, icy drive and get as far as they could then leave car blocking the drive, expecting me to go wake them up in morning and help them winch it out so I could get out to go to work. They said it was too inconvenient to park on county road and just walk up and I guess putting on tire chains would be too much trouble. They were so mad when I finally cut a path through woods and went around their car one morning leaving them in their own self created mess. So believe me Fantasy's story is believable as I've suffered incredibly stupid foolish people before in my world.

You say you're smack dab in the middle of IL. The geographic center is Logan. Here is the weather that night:http://www.weather.com/weather/pastw...IL0683?when=-2

Low was 32, the high was 52, no rain. Facts.

Sounds like a lot of neighbors I've had.

Also, my baby brother's inlaws were EXACTLY like that. And they only lived a couple blocks away.

Oh for heaven's sake..nothing better to do than quibble over night time temperatures? Temps can vary a lot. It is a full 12 degrees colder at a friends house, just three miles away in straight line, than at mine. Just the lay of the land.

LOL, if this story bothers you so much, quit reading it

Type in geographic center of Illinois, it says Logan. You say you're smak dab in the middle, I thought that would be close enough.

That's from my Mozilla. If you are using IE, I don't know what will show up.

Fantasizing about people you have an attraction to is a natural part of growing up. Usually, the fantasies are kept private. There are far too many inconsistencies in the story to ever hold water. And if we all start posting made up stuff on this forum, how do you separate the truth from the chaff? Someone asks about a sick goat, somebody else makes up some story about how they treat them, and the goat dies. That ain't good. There are plenty of places online to publish any kind of fiction you want. And to the people who say this sounds like a book, books are plainly labeled fiction or nonfiction, we don't have that option here.

I have no problem believing the story - my house, while furnished etc sits empty most days and about 3-4 nights each week, we only stop by every other or 3rd day or so to check on it, as we spend more time in our business location right now.

I have two large storage buildings out back, one that is locked and the other one that is not [since I can't find a darn replacement lock anywhere] - the open one is empty. I be danged if a few months ago we didn't find the AC knocked out of the window, and the vinyl scrunched loose in one corner. It took my 13 yr old to find some used condoms [yuck] decorating my trees, for me to figure out what happened.

And for your info - my property is all the way fenced in with a string of barbed wire on top. After doing some serious looking we found 2 folding chairs hidden in the alley behind the property [nice and new ones that are now personal property, LOL]. We also have 2 big dogs loose, that are pushovers and obviously the kids figured that part out. If the kids would have had the good sense to stick the AC back in, and take their condoms home - I would have never figured it out... Am not sure if they have been back, don't think so - the chairs are still where we left them - out of sight from the fence line.

So a couple having a quickie out in a driveway - does not come as a surprise. And swingers are everywhere these days - and come in all walks of life... so why not with hunters either?

And whoever said that women don't carry wallets, must have not got any teenage daughters. I didn't start carrying a purse until I had a checkbook, and if I wouldn't keep forgetting to mark my purchases, when I only carry my ATM/debit card, I'd go back to a back pocket size wallet in a heartbeat.

I'll bet that if there was a show of hands most of us who grew up in rural areas have gone parking and sometimes it was on someones driveway.

Maybe the young lady was building up her retirement ie. blackmail photos and that poor innocent man was hoodwinked into her carefully set trap.

Once we kids snuck up on a parked car one warm summer night. It turned out to be a middle aged couple who were renting a vacation cabin just across the road. Just a trip down memory lane.
