We have sliders on our barn, but then it's an actual barn. No animals have ever escaped...

I've got a 12 high by 16 long slider on my building and it slides easy. Works great and the locking hardware will pull it up tight against the wall and no critter gets in. I like to leave it open when its nice and the biggest problem I have is the birds fly in when its open and you have to maek sure they are out when you close it.

I have both, slider and garage door. The slider is 8' high and 10' wide. The garage door 8 1/2' x 9'. The slider's seal much, much, better than the garage door.

I purchased the garage door (segmented) and installation, NO electric opener. I have had problems with a dust tight seal since it was installed. Had the installer back 3 or 4 times and he finally said it was the best he could do without an opener. The opener applies pressure when closed and to allow the door to open without an opener, the fit could not be as tight at the top.

I built the slider myself. Enclosed the top slider mechanism and a track recessed into the concrete sill. Sides are kept tight with the locking fastener I built. Dust or snow does not come into the barn thru this door.

If it's a barn, it get's sliders. Otherwise it's a hobby shop.
