I don't think so. The orginal barn was torn down before the property was split. We built our barn and house and went through a real hassle getting power lines installed since there weren't any here...not even a line at the road.

The house and barn must be on different phases at the street. The same thing happens with me. My neighbor accross the street will have power when I do not.

I would fix that loose box, and protect it. Arcing leads to heat, & heat leads to fires. Add dust & moisture from critters, and you have some real problems. I mean, seriously, I would not sleep at all with the juice turned on to the barn. That is a serious problem. If it were me, I would go right now & pull that sub pannel breaker. It is not a safe situation.

This reminds me of that commercial where the guy is asking his wife to watch for what the switch in the garage activates? On. Off. On. Off... Are you watching? On. Off. And it's the lady's garage door opener a couple houses down. LOL

The power to the barn is off until it's fixed. Hubby plans to get to it next week as he's on vacation all week.

The weird thing about it all is that the property next door is not even on the same main line as we are. I think it's just a fluke that they are going off and on at the same time.
