"Sounds like you are doing a good business on ebay. Good for you. I've always thought that it could be done. Nice to see someone who has pulled it off."

I expect to end the year with about $50K in eBay sales, of which about 1/3rd will be net. So, yes, it can be done.

Trick is to try to be the only one selling the item on eBay.

On the Middle East sale it does sound like one which doesn't fit standard procedures. You apparently don't block bids from that area, so the system accepted the bid and you were likely immediately paid through PayPal. I'm guessing you indicated only in your item descripiton no sales to the Middle East so it is essentially an off-line dispute. The $50 is eBay's attempt to manage supply and demand.

On the pyro-items you might want to limit yourself to U.S. sales only and then only to confirmed addresses. For example you sell to someone in London, who promptly repackages and forwards to the Middle East. Unlikely, but you might find yourself on some FBI watch list.

Nichrome is acually a non pyro item but being a licensed permit holder my place is subject to inspections by the BATFE and FBI at anypoint during normal business hours.suprisingly other than the annual inspection these two agencies have never been a problem. I've found their agents to be nice and polite, always willing to offer suggestions and answer my questions. Though the CPSC has gone to a number of suppliers demanding names and addresses of customers
