I'm one of the fat eaters, too. It needs to be hot, though, and salty.

Too much deer fat and it sticks to the roof my mouth also. I remember having hamburger one time when I was little that gagged me with something unusual like candle wax above my tongue. I didn't know what it was until years later when I started killing deer on my own. Mom and Dad pulled a fast one over on me.
It's something I have to put up with when I BBQ deer ribs.

My FIL (with help!) always butchers all the deer that the family gets. He cuts off any big pieces of fat and discards them, but quite a bit makes it into the ground burger. I've developed quite a taste for venison (beef tasted blah to me), and the fat never bothered me much. I do rinse my browned ground venison in hot water, maybe that is why I never had a problem with it? Then again though, whenever we make burgers, they never get rinsed and the fat doesn't bother me then either.

Coyotes got to eat too.

Deer fat contains all the nasty wild taste. We bone it out and remove ALL fat and conective tissue. People who won't eat deer (because of the taste) will eat ours.

We don't mess with the front shoulders either--they get chopped off with the head. Only parts worth messin with (IMHO) are the inner tenderloins, backstraps, and hams.

Don't know about making soap with it though; as many of em that I have to skin and process during deer season (father takes all he can get from his friends--he smokes and cans them), the thought of bathing with parts of one aint too appealing.
