I love how all the construction dudes are real happy working for you, but you look kinda sad as your checkbook gets lighter and lighter.

Great pics!

Yeah, everyone made money...except me...I made debts...only a 15 year mortgage though, and we've already got 1 year behind us...We also pay extra on the principle every month.

Hoping to cut 15 years down to about 12...

Make the larger extra principle payments now when your payments are primarily interest for the most part (Im sure you know that but others may not).

Making just one full extra payment to principle only knocked off almost a years worth of monthly payments for me,in the beginning of the loan.I hit mine hard early on,paid a 30 year off in just over 10 years.

My only comment would have to be ~ YOU have a WIFE???

That proves that there really is somebody for everyone.

It just dawned on me that you were being mean to me. As if to suggest that I, the perennial "Babe Magnet" could not attract a wife. Wassup with that? My wit and charm are irresistible... :baby04:

Very nice job! But I see a few problems with this...

1. The shop is smaller than the house?? How in the world could you let that happen? Your man card is revoked for a period of 2 months!

2. You forgot to depict the $15,000 engineered septic system required by the county under the new regulations that were implemented 3 months before you started developing the site.

3. You forgot to include a drawing depicting you and your wife leaving the place at 5am every morning to commute 1.5 hours each way to the city for your jobs, which are necessary to pay for all the bills associated with choosing to build a place on undeveloped land in the first place...

4. You also need a drawing depicting either you or your wife obtaining a bunch of animals as "livestock" under the guise that they will, "save you money"...

5. Finally, you need a drawing showing either you or you wife sitting at a computer totally frazzled from working off the place almost non stop to pay the bills posting to HT, lamenting about the fact that you have such a beautiful place, but you are never home to enjoy it. You are wondering where the joy is in life anymore. And, following up that post with, "how do I really make money with all these dang animals that take up so much of my time to care for?".

I'll try to address your concerns in order:

1. You're right about the shop. It is too small...only 12 X 25. I deserve whatever rebuke I get.

2. I got a break on the septic system. We live in a small, rural county of SE KY. and nobody really cares what we do here. I put in a septic system and it was approved with one visit and a $15.00 fee. Just a tank and drain field.

3. Actually, we have a pretty laid back lifestyle...My wife is an RN (Works part-time 2-3 shifts a week and sells Arbonne Skincare products). She's only 2 miles from the hospital so it's a short commute. I pastor a church and basically do my work out of my home office and on the road among the people. The kid's school is .2 of a mile from us, and our home is only 1.6 miles from the city limit.

4. We've never seen animals as anything other than what they are...an expense...It's a hobby farm...I like chickens and fresh eggs and rabbits. Right now, we don't have any rabbits. The wife likes horses. We've go 2 paso finos and a racking horse.

5. We've never been whiners...or planners...we just have a good time every day and count our blessings. I've known a lot of people, but I can honestly say that I've never known anyone as happy and blessed as we are. I wish the best on everyone, and I ain't bragging...I just really am enjoying the days of my life.

I was just messing with ya, Boleyz. Just a play on some of the situations we see play out here on HT from time to time. The winky smileys indicate humor. Have the peeps on HT beat you down so much you've lost your sense of humor?? Please say it isn't so!

I am going to print out your stick drawings and show them to my wife as we have some undeveloped property in another county that she has visions of building a house on. I think often times people severely underestimate the cost of developing net new property that has no infrastructure, vs. buying something that has infrastructure in place and tearing down all but one wall for a "remodel".

I really don't take ANYTHING seriously on HT...It's just a place for some fun for me...a break from the stress.

Love your naked little stick people. You do show design talent tho, you have great placement of your subjects in the picture frame, golden mean and all that. You did reallly well on the bulldozer, I could just smell it!!! Have fun with your new house!!

Isn't it great to be able to build a pyre in your front yard and dance naked/I mean roast weanies(um SOME people would end up roasting their weinies if they DID dance nakey round the fire...) under the stars. One of my favorite winter things--you start with a garbage fire and end with a roast!

I've actually written about 24 pages with pics and diagrams, but I've kind of let it die...I'll try to get back on that...

Well, my art is somewhat impressionistic and that always means "Clothing Optional"... Actually, it would be hard for me to adequetly reproduce my own physique in a self-portrait, due to the excessive musculature.

Yeah, we love weenie roasts too and I'm getting ready to build a fire-pit just off my patio. But the BEST thing about living here is that there are so many "Restrooms" outside (at least for the men). I don't even have to attempt to hide...I love that...
