It is prevalent, but not pervasive.

If you know you are going to have a problem with hunters and other trespassers, why not take your own loaded shotgun out to the back 40 and blow off a few rounds at targets arranged in the woods? Set a dozen straw bales at different places in the woods/fields with shot-up targets on them, and practice at a different one each time.

Another good trick... don't lure deer to your property if you don't plan on killing some yourself. Sure it's fun to leave some old fruits and veggies out for Bambi and his family to enjoy while you watch from the sitting-room's windows, but less deer on your property means less deer for poachers to hunt. Maybe even hang some fels naptha in the trees, or put out some other form of deer repellant if you have some time and money to spare.

But you did say they still shoot later. Is that time for me to run???? Just kidding, it made me smile when I read your post.
