Ugh on the spider.

The bee got you right in the spot where dentists inject to make your incisors numb, so I'm not surprised you had some funny tingling.

Glad that your hubby rescued you and you didn't have any airway-endangering mouth-swelling.

My dad once blew a bubble with gum and didn't know a yellow jacket had landed on the underside of the bubble, so he sucked the bug back in with the burst bubble and continued chewing.....his tongue was sore for a week!

I was reading your story with my mouth WIDE open in sympathy -- and I cringed when your DH made for your mouth with his blade!

Mouth closed now, except for the smile.

Glad you're alright!

Pony!

I can't even imagine what it would be like to see a bee right now...

GAHHHHHH! That's horrible! You guys are making me paranoid about eating anything outside.

When I take a drink can outside, I put this little lid thing on them I bought from the Regal store. It covers the entire can top and has a little sieve where you drink from. There is also a little flap you can cover the sippy hole with. So no surprises. I've never been stung from drinking out of a can, but have seen enough hornets sitting on the edge of cans to be too creeped out to drink from them.

The closest I came was to drink tea from a teacup and get a spider in my mouth. Bleck. That was bad enough.

Good story, HSH. I've had to spit a few honeybees in my time.....they're notorious for getting in open soda cans. Never got stung, though.

But the spider in the glass.....EEEEKK! As much as I hate spiders, I'd probably have fainted.....oh, that is sooo creepy.

That gave me a bad flashback... when I was 11 or 12 I had just got a new bike and was riding down the road with a few friends talking, laughing and having a grand old time until a bee flew in my mouth and stung my tongue. It swelled horribly and I went home to have my mother take the stinger out. I couldn't talk right for a few hours and they (my family) still laugh at me about it! They made alot of jokes about my big mouth being open so much that even the bees aren't safe etc...

Glad to hear that nothing really bad came of it. We have an allergic child who seems to get stung at least 3 times each summer, often more. He has the allergy shots every 6 wks or so and has not had a bad reaction in years so we are very thankful for that.

I confess I've never had one in my mouth but there was a family joke about my stripping going round for quite a while Two or three years running I got a bee in my clothing. I was more concerned about getting the darned thing out than my dignity

My story: Cycling down a hill in Herkimer NY (so 35+ MPH). Musta had the jaw slackin in the wind from workin hard, and took in a bug of some sort. Saw it on incoming trajectory, had full lungs, and saw the out going trajectory as well. Musta just finished a big inhale, there was no delay in its exit after entry. Pthuui! Never knew what it was, and didn't leave much taste. Prolly just a little pellet from when IT realized what happened I guess.

Nothing that bad, but last night I drank from my glass of orange juice I had just poured and got a small fruit fly in the process - spat it out all over the kitchen floor...DH laughed so hard he almost cried...
