We have two penpals from Uganda that we've been writing to for probably a year now. They are a young girl and young boy. It's been really neat for my children to learn more about their culture, country, etc.; and hopefully these Uganda children enjoy it too!

We send them little trinkets like stickers, crayons, and such.

I have an emailpal in England. We work for two divisions of the same company and she included me on an email distribution by mistake (I must have similar initials to someone in her office - our two email systems are mysteriously linked). She was offering homemade jam and invited anyone interested to come by her desk. I thought that was funny. I responded and she has sent me jam now several times. We also exchange Christmas gifts and buy things for each other when we are on vacation - postcards, calendars, etc.

I've had several email penpals over the years, but we always lose touch. I haven't had one in a long time. It's interesting to read about other people's daily lives.

I had some regular letter penpals when I was younger. That was fun, too. There's just something nice about a handwritten letter.

I used to correspond with an older woman in England that I met on vacation. She rescued me when I was caught in a transportation strike. Took me home with her and kept calling drivers till she found me a ride to my hotel in the next town.
While waiting for the ride, we got to chatting and exchanged addresses. She had been a WAC in WWII and was coming to the US for some reunion the next year. She was quite a lovely character and a lifesaver for me. We wrote for a couple of years, then she became ill.

never had a penpal that i had never met, but i met a few people while traveling in europe and egypt that i wrote to for a couple years,

one was a egyptican who was a coptic christian and a medical doctor. he wanted to know if elizabeth taylor getting married 8 times was normal in america, and what i thought about that.

i also met an austrialian women who was on her way to visit her boyfriend in botswana. she'd traveled just about everywhere in the world.

Growing up I had one from Australia, we'd write about the boys we had crushes on lol I emailed her last when I was 14 but I never heard from her again.

My parents and sis live in GA..does that count for penpals too lol?
