Are fuel prices sneaking up again?

Seem to be around here, maybe its just the winter demand, what have you noticed?

GoatsRus 11/14/06 10:24 AM

Yep, 2 days after the election was finalized, gas rose anywhere from 8 cents to 10 cents a gallon overnight. I think keeping gas "relatively" low and not rising the price during the election was just another ploy. Before elections began, gas was up, up , up then down, then up......well, you get the idea.

gunslinger598 11/14/06 10:33 AM

Gas tried to go up here for about 2 days, then went back down to actually .02 lower than it started. I expect it to try and spike up again as the holidays approach. Currently unleaded reg $2.04 diesel $2.30

Snowdancer 11/14/06 10:38 AM

They went up 6 cents a gallon for regular 10 days before the election. So far, they've held steady at that 6 cent increase.

moonwolf 11/14/06 10:41 AM

bought regular yesterday in N. Minnesota at $2.19/gal.

Aintlifegrand 11/14/06 10:59 AM

Ours went up for about a week but are going back down this week.. we will see if this holds with holiday travel and demand changes.

DenverGirlie 11/15/06 06:58 AM

has increased .08 across the board since the elections.

Alice In TX/MO 11/15/06 07:03 AM

I don't think it's 'sneaking' when they post it on BIG signs along the roads.

hehehe :)

Explorer 11/15/06 07:06 AM

Our unleaded regular, 87 octane, has been very slowly declining since Labor Day. Currently between $2.34 and 2.39 in local towns.

I was thinking the same thing. There is no sneaking going on. It's out of the closet, on the couch in the living room with its feet up on the coffee table AND it has invited friends over.

Gas prices have gone up here .09 since the election.

Sigh. Our gas prices have not gone up since the election, but alas, never went down that much. The lowest I've seen has been $2.39/gal. Many stations nearby are still at $2.51/gal. Central NY State.

same here.. No suprise really. Anything to try and get a vote eh?

virtualco 11/15/06 09:31 AM

Here in Cape Coral it is still 221.9, same as before the election.

edcopp 11/15/06 02:45 PM

Our gas went up 12 cents per gallon on the afternoon of election day. Statement made

diane 11/15/06 03:08 PM

S.C. Mich........ours went up .10/gal the day after elections to $2.29/gal. It had been at $2.19 for about 6 weeks if I remember right. It had been $2.29 for a couple of months before that. I think just before Thanksgiving it always takes a jump. I read somewhere that Thanksgiving is actually the busiest road trip holiday.

Ramblin Wreck 11/15/06 03:10 PM

My usual gas station went from $1.97 to $2.09 from the night of the election to the next morning. They've dropped back to $2.05 now.

Alice In TX/MO 11/15/06 04:06 PM

Unleaded down to $1.99

mightybooboo 11/15/06 04:24 PM

Premium back up to 2.79/gal,it was as low as 2.59 before the election, not that there is any connection, gosh no.

of course...

the elections are over!!!

Oilpatch197 11/16/06 06:21 PM

The elections are over, also the Goverment is reporting a surplus in reserves, and warmer than seasonal tempertures, it is $2.16 right now.

CindyOR 11/17/06 04:54 PM

gas prices up

Gas prices here in Oregon have gone up 20 cents in a week. We paid $2.15 last week - just got gas last night and it is $2.35. It isn't your imagination - the guy running the til said it started the day after the election. Coincidence? Or?

Janis Sauncy 11/17/06 05:43 PM

Gee, they've stopped sneaking up and are now hitting my area with force! I first noticed an $.08 a gallon increase a couple of days after the election. Now, they've increased anywhere from 15 cents to 20 cents a gallon over pre-election prices, depending on the station. (And, to top if off, my 12-mile one-way commute to work is now 25 miles one way due to a highway washout from recent rains!)

Ouch.

SteveD(TX) 11/17/06 05:52 PM

 Three weeks ago they went down. Two weeks ago they started going back up. Today they went back down. Let's face it, it's a roller coaster. :baby04:

arabian knight 11/17/06 05:54 PM

Should be going back down now crude prices had been up over 61 a barrel now they are below 58 dollars. So it shouldn't take too long to pop back down again.

Rockin'B 11/17/06 07:46 PM

Yesterday crude oil made a new low for the long trend lower off the record July highs. Gas traded over 6 cents lower. It takes time to reach the street as product moves from futures to cash market to wholesale truck loads at the station level. You should see additional relief fairly soon.

arabian knight 11/17/06 09:40 PM

You bet and I just heard tonight from the AAA that gas will be under 2 By the first of the year . Cool

Ditto that, it was steadily dropping here until 2 days after the election when it spiked up by 10 cents a gallon overnight and has kept increasing since. It's now 20 cents a gallon more than it was on election day, $2.47....

Yea, right, they ought to know -- after all they control the supply.

Janis Sauncy 11/19/06 08:41 AM

I got gas yesterday (after my last posting) and it is now 25 cents more than it was pre-election!

I hope those of you who predict it will go back down are right. Those three or four dollars increase per tankful really add up when you're just trying to get back and forth to work. And, no, I don't drive a gas guzzler. I drive a little beater that was getting close to 30 mpg. It is now in need of a tune-up and is getting around 26 mpg. Hopefully I can get the tune-up soon and return to a little better mileage.
