What's that saying? "Good fences make good neighbors." Isn't it sad, though? We talked about fencing our entire property so that the horses could have free range but so far we've decided against it because of the cost and they way it would hamper wildlife from coming onto our property. We rather like coming out in the morning to find a dozen or so moose bedded down in our pastures...

One has little control over their neighbors as property is always being bought & sold. The scariest scenairio I can imagine is a trashy neighbor with junk cars, a grubby trailer and a bunch of nonstop barking dogs.
Fortunately, I live in a zoned area, so these things aren't possible.

LOL you dont get it you do live in a neighor hood it just has enough spce in it that you all can get along. That seems emmenintly senseble to me!

When I was a kid in boodocks Alaska people would come up there runnning from the law thinking that that far out no one would ever spot them.Just the opposite was true.If there are only 3 families in a million acres a new face stands out like a turd in a punchbowl!

We met one neighbor before we bought our current home. He seemed decent enough. What we really looked at was how the people kept up on their homes. Trust me, I have had messes in the yard, and occasional junk cars, but I try to keep things neat, especially since you can see it from the road. So that was my qualifier on neighbors. I didn't care if their house was new, or old, or funky 70's, just that they made an effort.

Fantasymaker,
Once I managed to stumble through your misspellings and lack of punctuation, I figured I'd remind you that I said "a neighborhood, per se". I meant not a conventional neighborhood like people think of when they visualize a neighborhood. Even "neighborhoods" that have a minimum acreage of 40 acres per lot are neighborhoods because they were "developed" to be that way. That's the key word behind "neighborhood", in my opinion. There's none of that here. YOU don't get it, do you? (Though I'm sure most homesteaders on this board knew exactly what I was saying!) And certainly three families in a million acres does NOT constitute a neighborhood!

Further, many folks on this board refer to their zoning and how it keeps out the riff-raff. There is no "zoning" here that can be compared in like terms. I say "that can be compared in like terms" just so you won't twist it around. One can do what he/she wants, as long as he/she doesn't produce meth. It's that simple.

I've lived in real neighborhoods that had HOAs to keep out the riff-raff. NEVER would again! All expensive homes with well-manicured lawns, so to keep the HOA mafia busy, they gave nasty letters about portable basketball hoops being left on your driveway and visible from the road overnight.

Sure does, as long as it's visible and the right type. Our fences are for livestock - hot tape 4 or 5 strands, 2 colors, very visible. We WANT the moose and they do jump it if the really want to come in. We don't have the perimeter fenced now though, just a small 3-acre pasture and it's rare the moose find that more interesting than the unfenced acreage right next to it.

LOL talk about not getting it. A neighborhood is just that the hood involving the neighbors If you are neighborly the spacing dosent count a bit.
Where do you get off saying that 3 families in a million acres isnt a neighborhood? THEY dont feel that way.
Im sorry that my writings are difficult for you, Ill try to make it somthing you are capable of but to be honest my disability makes it VERY hard to do so , so please understand I dont do it on purpose to offend you.

First of all, I don't think one other person on this board would question "my" interpretation of what a neighborhood is, even if they didn't agree. There is no "hood" attached to my neighbors... some of MY neighbors live in different counties. This is truly one of the most worthless, stupid conversations that I've ever had with someone!

Secondly, while perusing posts this evening, I have noticed that in almost every thread that you posted a reply you were making rude comments to people. You were clearly being condescending by using bold text and all caps (yelling). Asking people "WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU?" just because they had a different opinion, and "you don't get it" for the same reason. You threw a challenging remark at Old Vet because you don't understand normal English!

Lastly, as I can't see you and don't know you, the only "disability" that I KNOW you have is your rudeness. Any other disabilities you may have certainly don't have any bearing on your sour disposition and flat-out sh*tty attitude toward others.
