Funny.....I did a happy dance chanting "hills and rocks and trees" when I bought my place there.

I'm with you! I took this photo (this morning) as I was getting ready to leave for work. I could do without the chiggers and ticks, but this is a beautiful place to call home.

Thanks for all of the info. I will definitely start looking for info on the cat plant as that might be a good match job wise. If I don't find something job wise there soon, we may put off the move for a couple of years. I was just offered a great job here this morning that would definitely give us the opportunity to pay off a lot of bills and put a lot of money towards getting buildings and such up.

Hummm--I've lived near Willow Springs for most of my live--over 65 years-- and they've never "came and got me, and hauled me off to jail"-- any of the rest of you area supporters been spending time in "The Howell County Jail" ?

I used to have friends in West Plains...visited and stayed for a week or so back in '98. It was a nice little town, from what they told me the jobs didn't pay much at the time. People were very friendly though...What surprised me the most was all the dirt and rocks were RED *LOL*

I used to live in West Plains years ago, it's mostly a college town now and at that time the best jobs were the hospital, the lumber factory and of course education. But if your closer to willow springs, then I would look at Hutchins Industries in Mansfield & Seymour MO, they're both due west on hwy 60. It's a steel plant mostly employing welders and depending on experience you can start in $8-$10 dollar range, with regular raises at periodic times until you reach the top out at $14 something an hour. West Plains has grown a lot, so I'd check with the local job service for more info. But in general the area west down hwy 60 from west plains to Springfield is very nice and still very rural and small town mentality.

Good luck! Hope it works out for y'all.

Rea
