WOW!! I just found this! It's in my backyard!.. (Almost)
Got room for a Hightechhillbilly? I might be able to set up a "Solar Sumptin'" for folks to gander at. Kinda short notice but I believe I could make it on Sat. I need to look at the schedule and see what the little lady is doin'..
I'll check back later..

OK... need a head count on kiddies to make sure I've got enough craft supplies. I'm pretty sure I do, but want to make double sure just in case I need to improvise for a few extras.
Thanks!!

Ok, just to cover a couple of things. We have two campers that have bathrooms in them. If everyone feels comfortable using those we should be fine, with the house as a back up. Maybe even could do a sawdust toilet for those who would like to try one???
If you decide you would rather rent a porta potty, I am fine with that too. I will need to look at costs.
I have some wood to burn for out back. We use wood for our house so the stuff I have is just whats out back. Will have to break, and cut some of it. If anyone wants to bring some wood that's fine too. Any bit will help.
As far as I know the head count for the kids is the same as the previous posts. 12Vman, we would love to have you! I've been wanting to pick your brains on solar livin anyways!
So just let me know what y'all want to do about the porta pottie. If you have my address, please feel free to forward it to anyone who has show interest in coming.

Well... I could paint the seat black and let it set out in the open so the sun can warm it up..
Or, just wait around and let someone go in before you..

It lookw like DW is going to be able to come with after all. Yea!
I'll bring some split pine for the campfire. I think I'll be towing the trailer anyways as it looks like we are going to head down to the farm Saturday straight from your place.
So on my list of things to bring:
Some bee gear to show people interested in beekeeping
Some honey
Some firewood
Miscellaneous paper plates and cups for those in need.
A fabulous dish (as yet to be determined) for the pot luck
Warm clothes <G>.

We'll bring a little firewood (wish we had more space, but we're cramming a lot into the truck). I'm bringing the coleman stove to cook, so we won't need a fire for anything other than atmosphere! As for the potty, as long as you don't mind us traipsing through your camper, I'm fine with that. If you decide to rent, though, just let us know, and we will still go in on it. What time do you want us on Friday night?

OK...I'll try to be brave and try it. It's not the potty I'm afraid of, it's the tarp...and the wind...Oh dear!

Hey wanted to thank you two for the tip on the cheap apples down at Richardsons. We enjoyed picking them with Amy, your sis, brother in law and kids. I hope we got enough for your demo? David was bugging us about when we were going to see the cider made, he seems very interested, that says a lot for any 13 year old I think.

Hey Bargarguy,
No problem. Amy came home and told me you kept saying... "I feel bad for only giving the guy $2.00 a bushel" LOL. They had fun. From what I know we should have enough apples for about 20 - 30 gallons of cider.

I did feel bad for the guy, I don't if Amy saw or mentioned but I did a U-turn and was going to give the guy a few extra dollars until Jen talked me out of it.
The apples we picked up were very good quality in my book, some look as if the just fell off the tree and probably did. I know he can not sell drops for the same $ but he is a farmer and I know how hard it is for the little guy to make it.
Anyway we went home and canned some applesauce, Jen did most of the work, Bailey(our beagle) did her part by trying to steal the apples and run and hide with them-lol,
We will bring some to the camp out for all to try. I think it turned out pretty well.

Nice site you have. I myself would be interested in picking your brain. I have several questions on the matter, hope you are able to make it.

I've got the grinder set up, it's not permanent yet, since I still have to puzzle out the best way to do that, but I have it set up to go between two heavy channel steel saw horses. I just ground a few apples to check it out. Works pretty well. I am glad we will have a lot of people to man the grinding wheel. LOL. It's not hard, but you have to keep at it to keep it from stalling.
Trust me, Mr. Richardson does just fine at his place, so don't feel too bad about those apples!

My friend, Heather and I are going to camp Friday night and then my hubby, our son (almost 5), our friends and their two kids (boy-almost 10, and girl-8) will join us Saturday.
My friend, Donna, that will be joining us Saturday might bring her guitar and teach the kids (and whoever else is interested) some folk songs.
Shall I bring my Dutch ovens and make some apple pies?

Picking apples on Saturday Morning was lots of fun, and I am thankful for the time we all had together. It will be neat to see how my husbands grinder will work this weekend.
I think for the potluck on Saturday, I am going to make Potato Ham Chowder and I think also a cheese and trail bologna tray.
