Perhaps next weekend then? You do know that Chatham is having their apple butter festival then also right?

Talked with Bargar -- We'd be happy to help out next weekend. Saturday morning would work best as Bargar has a commitment at 3:00 but we can drive separate if need be. Just let us know when and where you want to meet up.
Does this mean you're making your own apple butter to go with that bread you'll be baking? lol :baby04:

ALL -- I was planning on doing a kids arts and crafts "project" and am wondering...
A) who's bringing kids
B) boy or girl
C) ages
Do you think your kids would be interested? I'm kind of trying to plan ahead to make sure I have enough supplies and that if we do have kids who would want to do something crafty that it's something geared towards their age group -- especially with little ones.
Thanks for the input

ZYG... Yeah I'd be more than happy to make some pulled pork. I'll just put my pit in the van and bring it out. It takes 7-9 hrs to cook a couple butts on this pit so i'll have to get 'er fired up early but thats no biggie.... unless people want to eat at noon or something. I will just need to know how many folks are coming about a week out so i can get plenty of meat. So do you have a shelter of somekind in case its raining?

sweetcountrygrl... I don't have any kidlets but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't be interested in doing an art project. And I promise not to eat all the paste.

Kurt

I know my kids will be interested in doing crafts. My two daughters are ages 7 and 3. And my son is 5.
My sister in law will also be here with her 2 children and they are a girl 6 and a boy 3.
Also, the neighbors across our street seem interested in coming and their son is 6.

You forgot the rabbit hunting demo(minus the shooting), our vicious 18lb. beagle hunts pretty well for a 16 month old modified lap dog with a pink collar, compliments of SCG.

My son is 8, and he is usually pretty happy to do a craft. It looks like he might be the oldest, though, so if you would rather do something geared towards little ones, he is usually just as happy to hang with the men and do "man things". Are you all having a few bales set up for targets? My son lives to shoot practice arrows with his compound bow. If no one else bow shoots, however, he can do that at home any time. He just gets a kick out of seeing the big guys practice.

As for knowing what's coming at the potluck: It's not so much about the planning as it is the anticipating!

Little Dave is 13 so he could go either way on the crafting -- my guess is he'll be more interested in shooting with his bow as well.

Wife and I would like to try to make it as well.
Am comfused as to when the pot luck supper will be Fri or Sat.
Will be difficult to make it on Fri unless the meal is later.
Could bring some 'juice' samples if wanted.
This would be in addition to a covered dish and some Schweizer Kase.

oh my heck - that sounds like it's going to be a blast!

I'm not even telling my 9 year old girl about it - she loves to go camping! She'd be too disappointed about missing it this year.

We're in Central Ohio. Count us in next year!

Everybody here is so excited! The guys are going to pressure wash the old truck cap today so it will be ready to serve as our "mini-camper". We bought a bunch of glow sticks to bring for all of the kids on Friday night. I suspect we may have to wear scarves and rubber boots with our ball gowns and tuxedos.
