Just one thought, have you checked with your local building department to see what they require regarding plans? Some places, you don't have to have anything and some places they require full blue prints with engineering stamps etc. It may be that your builders can do just fine with a hand drawn (or computer generated) floorplan but I would double check that the government folks at your building dept are okay with that. Some building departments are a bit difficult to deal with - ours was fine with the blueprints we have but they require a log grading certificate before they will issue a building permit--just one of the hoops they make you jump through.

I used home plan pro. Not too fancy but fancy enough. I didn't like plan 3d. Hard to just do simple things. Gave me a real fight to give me my money back. I used it for less than 12 hours and they charged me for a full month. hmm.
