It's the same way when you talk with people in person. How many times do you start talking about something, like for example, horses getting Thrush, and the next person starts telling you how they went to dude ranch once, and the next person answers with a recipe for cowboy biscuits. It's just human nature.

It doesn't bother me, because I like learning about the various people on HT.

I hate to be the internet police, but is it too much to expect basic comprehension and logic in our responses?

I have the same thoughts when I read many posts on here. I think part of the problem is many don't read they just skim and think they have the idea of the post. It's really a reflection of our society and our level of incompetince.

Think about this: Do you think the level of comprehension is any different for people in the workplace?

A lot of it is people open a long thread and dont take the time to read all the responses before they post. Did you say something about logic?

Sorry about the drift. Back on topic... Every person thinks, reads and writes differently. I second what others have said. Skip over posts that don't ring a bell, and be specific on your post. Also, you may want to just accept some poor soul's attempt at humor (see above) It may brighten your day.

Yes, it's too much to expect. This is a public forum, people may post whatever they like to a request for information as long as it's not abusive.

It's like the old parable of the blind men trying to describe what an elephant is. Each one "interpreted" the elephat differently.

I hope to gosh that this forum never becomes completely "logical"...boring!

Been using 8' lengths of 8'' treated pine sunk 3' into the clay to support the 6'' mesh - that'll keep the good critters in and should keep the bad'ns out, but some of them are pretty cunning and will sometimes find a way in I guess.

If I were here to critique everyone's reading comprehension, grammar and spelling on here instead of gleaning the knowledge the posters put in here, I'd be here for the wrong reasons, now....wouldn't I? One must learn to overlook it when people aren't perfect. It's the spice that makes the stew taste better. Now...where are those chickens??????

The roosters at NSA who now read all these words to find out which homesteaders are combining their shampoo with vinegar to take on the plane cost more than $2.00! They have pensions, health insurance and all...

Smile Yes...

I agree that sheep should have stalls separate from the horses. However, if pigs don't have the right size training wheels on their bicycles, they often fall down.

Sometimes it just happens that way, and then, if you're not willing to pay for your half of the fence, you should shoot all tresspassing dogs on sight.

If someone hunts on your land, they shouldn't kill the chickens and if they do, what kind of tractor is the best run over them with?

Finally, when relatives com calling with their snotty brat kids and you hate your in-laws anyway, how do YOU make jelly?

Simmer the brats (after carefully removing snotty nose) for 10 minutes. Strain through nylons and add the appropriate amount of chicken mash.

Since you mention this...I asked my DH and kids if they knew the 3 branches the other day when I saw the news item. My DH could only name two. My 10 year old knew them all, though.

Oops, thread drift...

I'd go for 15 minutes at 12 pounds.

Waste not, want not, right?

Wait - maybe I'd be better off at 3 minutes and 77 pounds.

Or maybe I should read the manual....No wait! That's no fun.

OK, time for my two cents. years ago when Illicit substances were inhaled, and conversations were started, they (conversations) would go everywhere. Sometimes, we would call a halt to the conversation and work our way backwards to try to determine where the talk had gone in its path to the stopping point.
OK, I admit it, that was a pretty bizarre way to spend an evening, but it didn't take much to entertain us. We used to call all the trails a conversation would take, "building railroads". The same thing happens in thread drift and it can be fascinating to watch how people respond to a topic.
Don't get upset and call in the "fuzz" to bust the railroaders, just go with the flow.

I do this in my own strange little brain sometimes. I will find myself thinking some random, often bizzare little thought, and wonder "how did I get here?" Then I backtrack and can usually remember how I got there. Fascinating thing, the mind.............

I am working on reading comprehension with my children. It is a great subject to teach....

What were we talking about???

I don't suppose I need to read the rest of this thread. I will catch it later. At least now I am involved in the conversation.
