So has anyone determined if the agent was a buyer's or seller's yet? Huuuuge difference if it was a buyer's agent.

Oh, MC! You know you thrive on being an eccentric, controversial character! Just enjoy it for the funny, interesting moment that it was.

What would give her the impression that 'soon they won't be able to afford living here anymore'? Taxes can't go up *that* fast, can they?

Whoever suggested using your column to discuss this was right, I agree this would be a good column, especially if your place is paid off or something, which would be a real zinger to the RE agent.

I still think you should discuss this with the property owner, because they really would want a different agent if they heard that kind of talk-down. There are some things that have to be 'disclosed' about a property, but not by trashing you. What she should have said was more along the lines of, "Well, the only potential problem is that there is a working homestead next door, so you get all the normal farm noises. For some people that adds to the charm, but others don't like hearing roosters early in the morning or tractors in the afternoon. It depends what you want."

Move all your roos to the edge of the property. Everytime someone shows up run around with a mask on and a chainsaw.
OOO can I come and do all this stuff for you? Been a boring summer. All my neighbors know better than to speak to me.

Either way, the agent is stupid...she doesn't make money unless she sells the property. A buyer's agent is supposed to represent the best interests of the buyer, but most don't...they represent their own best interest, which means making the deal go through whether it's good for the buyer or not.

As for what you should do MC, that depends on how you feel. I like the idea of making an appointment to have her show you the property...record what she says and use it however you see fit.
