I've lived in NW Florida all my life, so I picked Rebel. Even though most people that are in Florida now came from somewhere else, there a lot of us who've been here the whole time. And Florida is kinda backwards; South Florida is like the North, and North Florida is still the South.

If you mean geographically, I am a Yankee, but really a midwesterner at heart since I've lived in IL most of my life, but with an inborn Southern streak - my mom is a native Floridian and we lived there and AL for several years of my childhood. I guess that just means American!

Was born and raised a Yankee from Ohio. As soon as I could I got to Texas and now I'm a Born Again Texan. So does being Texan count? Besides, Texas should be in it's own category anyhow. :-)

We live in southern NJ -- actually south of the PA state line -- does that make us south of the Mason/Dixon line? Guess we could be honorary southerners!

I'm English, live south of the Mason-Dixon in a confederate sympathiser county in a non-confederate state. I voted observer.

Well, technically speaking, Kentucky was a border state, just like Maryland, Delaware, and for a short time, Missouri. But my guy is from southeastern KY, and when he's in the north, he feels a need to defend it against any slander relating to either the south or the midwest!

ETA--forgot to say--I'm a northerner! Born in PA, raised in MD (a border state) which always felt more northern to me, and since then I've lived in PA, IL, and now PA again! You southerners can keep your awful hot weather, giant bugs, humidity, and heavy food. Only a place with 4 REAL seasons (meaning actual snow in winter, beautiful leaves in fall, temperate summers, and cool wet springs) will EVER feel like home to me. Old, rolling mountains are also key, but I know you guys have those down there, too--so that's one thing to your credit. I have a lot of relatives in FL--I don't even like to visit there. Palm trees and shark-infested waters--blech! When I visited New Orleans, the humidity was so bad it actually made all my dogs' biscuits soft and spongy, right in the box! North Carolina and Tennessee are about as far south as I'll go without a really good reason. I like Kentucky a lot, although it's a little too warm for me, but like I said above, it's not "true" south in the "Rebel" sense, anyway....

I had to mark "observer" because I've lived all over the map. Most of my formative years were spent in Kansas, a state that is about as neutral (north/south wise) as you can get.

But, right now, I live in Oklahoma: a state that exemplifies many of the negative stereotypes of Southern Culture and little of its charm or grace.

Oh yeah, and sweetened tea is for hummingbirds. So, I guess in some people's eyes I'm a danged (or worse) Yankee.

I was born and raised in Maryland just south of the Mason-Dixon Line so I'm just barely a rebel Have land we bought in Arkansas and will be moving there when we retire so we'll be true south then

Child of immigrants so I don't have the "yankee/rebel" mindset.

I love the TRUE four seasons, I love mild summers to CAMP, cool colorful falls to HUNT, cold snowy winters to SKI and look foward to longer daylight hours and warmer temps of spring to start the cycle all over again. Adirondack Mountains of Northern NY.....I Love New York....the only place that is as rural as Kentucky and only 4 hours from New York City. The best of both worlds. True YANKEE.

I voted Canadian because geographically it's as close as I could get to Alaska.

Thumbs up

I believe the one I've seen is along the lines of, "Yankee by birth, Southern by the grace of God."

After all the political BS I've been seeing the past several years, I have to say that I'm definately a long stronger proponant of state's rights over federal union . . . but that's just my $.02.
