I've seen the wife swap shows. They are entertaining, but I guess I don't trust the producers in giving a true portrayal of the families. I always come away thinking, oh my, people really live like that. I remember a mom who partied with her teenage kids every night and the other mom was a devout Catholic. It was kinda neat because the party mom and dad started to take their kids to church and commented on the positive turn for their family.
I would rather think that Melissa wouldn't care for the experience, because it really isn't about homesteading or any lifestyle really, it's about the family's reactions to the new mom and her ways. 20 grand isn't enough money for the hassle.......JMHO. I wouldn't do it for any amount of money.

If ABC were genuinely committed toward showing how a real-life homesteading family lives and works ..they'd just do it without any of the immature and humiliating extra gimmicks.
In fact ..I will hazard to guess that there would be several real 'honest-to-goodness' 'down-to-earth' 'true-grit' homesteaders ..who would do it for free if it were truly an educational show about nothing but real-life homesteading.

Is subjecting your husband and children to this type of 'show' worth it? Do you want your faces on tv...and your childrens?
????? serious thinking needs to be done in my opinion.....

I agree that the opposite type of "wife" would be chosen for the swap.. thats what makes it entertaining.
And, if my family cant "hold their own" and remember their way of life and why it's important. I have obviously done something wrong.
I have every faith in my hubby AND my kids to keep things running around here, and hold onto their morals, and line things out when needed.
My kids know that not everyone lives the way we do.
My kids know that not everyone believes the way we do. (some of these people are in their own family! lol)
I have total faith on the fact that I have raised my children to be proud of their lives,
To respect adults,
and to learn from as well as teach others.
I agree that serious thinking should be done.
But I also think that if my family cannot make it thru one week of another persons views without being "damaged or changed", we have bigger problems.
Lets not forget.. Dad WILL be there.... I have faith in him too!

after taxes I think it would be around $14,400 that's still enough for the barn I want...
or the addition to our house. hmmmmmm
And from what they said yesterday, children under 5 isn't an automatic shut down, it depends on the situation/family.

Go for it Melissa - think of all those memories

They could use Melissa for one episode and CloverAngel for another...hey, HT folks are so interesting, they could probably use one of us for every episode for years to come! I am a single mother....and might not want to swap back if I thought the poor swapped hubby was being neglected .
