They are still there. The plumbing inspector came yesterday. I do not know what happened, but I heard a lot of screaming and the police came again.
I am not sure what will happen next, but my lawyer said it is going to get very bad for these folks.

I hope everything works out well for you and that they do not retaliate towards you in any way. They sound like the kind of folks that would not peacefully go away with their tails between their legs. Praying for you and them that all turns out well and the "neighbors" learn to be nice people.

Of course, if they cannot sell, you'll never get a penny on a judgement! ;-)
I'll keep praying for you!

you know, this has the makings of a pretty good book. It isn't funny now but down the road a century or two, this could be quite a slapstick comedy. When you get really depressed about this, just think about who you'd like to play you, your unbelievable neighbors, and all the supporting characters in a movie. Good luck to you. I hope this will finally come to an end soon. I can't help but wonder where this couple came from and what the circumstances were. I don't think they went suddenly schizoid after moving to the country.

It'd almost be funny if it weren't such a headache for you Pyrnad! I'm sorry your having to deal with this, but then again I'm sure you'll be glad to stick it to them a bit...sheesh...if only they'd have left the fence alone much of this wouldn't be such a pain in their rear...

Perhaps the hostile neighbors will eventually realize that "payback" for hostility often comes from unexpected directions in ways that cannot be anticipated -- though they probably won't since they are evidently accustomed to operating in negative mode.
Likewise, "payback" of a good sort for cooperative and friendly attitudes also comes from unexpected directions in ways that cannot be anticipated.

If they can't sell, maybe you can buy the property less the amount of the judgment and now the septic situation? Could end up being a real steal.
Actually the S hasn't quite Hit The Fan....yet....when you're done with them, they won't have a pit to poop in!

Ya know, the location of the septic is most probably WHY they thought they had more land than they did and kept moving the fence markings - Under normal circumstances one WOULD thnk their septic was on THEIR land not the neighbors. They got a raw deal also in their purchase.

Wow, this situation gets crazier all the time. Pyrnad, I hope this all works out for you soon, that they can get on their way back to wherever the came from, and that you can get that 1 acre back on your property. Fingers crossed.

Hope that this gets much better for you soon! Are they giving you any indication that they are actually moving? My bad neighbors are still here but supposedly have been spotted moving some boxes out. The only problem with them leaving is that we could get someone worse!!

if they can't sell, pay attention to their property tax situation. if they have abandoned the place, you may be able to get a tax deed in a few years....check with your attorney for the proper procedure in that jurisdiction.

First let me say I'm tickled pink that some poetic justice is taking place.
Having septic systems on the neighbors land is far more common than one thinks. I know of 3 instances in my small town.
Instance #1. Once rich & powerful family built septic system on neighbors land. Probably grandfathered in by now. Matriarch of family near 90. Her one kid drank himself to death in a failed attempt to drink up the family fortune. 3 grandchildren (who live over 1000 miles away) undoubtedly will sell the property when they inherit the place.
Instance #2. An honest error. Septic system was put in 30+ years ago. Original owner died. His widow tried to sell the house and found out the bad news. Cost her $12000 to set things right.
Instance #3. Stupidity. Young couple that owns 40 acres put septic system on neighbors land (major stupidity). Not bad neighbors or anything, just one of those things. Neighbor is being reasonable. Currently being negotiated. Neighbor wants at least a 2 acre parcel on blacktop, suitable for a building lot in exhange for an acre that their septic system encroached on. Young couple seems to be hesitant to trade land. I know both parties involved.
I don't know how big of a piece of property the nasty neighbors own. I'd advise you to do the same as Instance #3 above. Ask for a decent sized acreage parcel and trade them the land that the septic system is on.
You have the luxury of holding all the cards. Play them well. Think well into the future. Money will likely be spent. Land is forever.
