Farming styles

Fox farms and mink ranches were very common in this area of Northern Ontario probably 50 years ago. My father worked on a fox farm locally, and I had relatives that worked in Kitchener on farms run by the same owner. I find it fascinating. Back in the day before cars were so common and people farmed with horses as well as rode/drove them for transportation, horse meat was the common and inexpensive food for these animals. Times change, and so do the styles of farming. Ponyboy123 - I haven't heard of any around this area for years. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for you though.

<<Are mink as nasty to handle as everyone says? What's it really like?>>

VERY nasty to handle. It's like holding a short hunk of anaconda that's got a fur coat. Think welding gloves reinforced with wire. Then make sure you keep the thing away from your body while you're holding it. Then comes the problem of letting it go...
