They told the COPS they'd shoot anyone checking the property line? Not too bright, are they?

They can be charged with "criminal threatening" if they personally threaten you....their statement sounds non-specific but if they say anything remotely close to "I'm going to kill you" have them charged and place a protective order and ask for police patrol.

No mention has been made about having to live long term next to a neighbor, or family whom you have not had the ability to show an ounce of empathy towards.
My advise is to show yourself the more mature rational person by atleast offering to sit down together and discuss (negotiate) a settlement which might leave both sides in agreement.
Doesn't sound like that was ever offered, and the results are just like they always are when one neighbor acts badly towards another neighbor - and the other neighbor returns the favor.
These same people often have advise to world leaders on how to solve world problems.

Verifying exactly where your boundaries are only makes good sense. If they didn't, it's their problem. If the real estate agent told them wrong, their beef is with the agent, if they can prove it, and if it wasn't just an "over there by that tree" type comment from the real estate agent and they didn't actually find the pin and they were thinking the wrong tree ...

Yes..I agree. And I'm certainly not condoning the neighbor's unacceptable behavior. Just wondering what specifically is it that they don't seem to comprehend.???
There's gotta be some reason to their spiteful ignorance?

marlene this is a situation that has been going on for quite some time. pyrnad has made an effort to get along with these people, and has gone out of her way to be neighborly. These people want nothing to do with it. She has to protect her livestock, and home from these idiots. It's at a point now where she can't be nice anymore, because they aren't going to let it end that way.

This has all been tried in the last 2 months. No matter what anyone says or does these folks are just plain ignorant. We had a meeting with the police chief and town manager. They stormed out after 10 minutes ,I had not even spoken yet. Hopefully it will end soon, the surveyor and PD will be here soon. They told me to stay in the house until they are done and will go over the lines with bad neighbor and myself. The surveyor will put up a string line. I hope this works, because I just do not have time for the nervous breakdow these folks are giving me.

I wish you luck pyrnad. Maybe the idiots will do something stupid while the PD is there that lands them in lockup for a while. (I can hope ) Then you can have your fence installed while they are "away"...
Keep your chin up, we're all pulling for you.

I have been trying to take the high road with these folks. I have been totally ignoring them. They owe me serious cash for the timber trespass, have threatened me , my family and my animals. Enough is enough. They bought one acre and thing it is 5. Gone way over property lines torn down a fence, scream and swear at me when I am in my barn milking goats and tending my animals. I am NOT moving. My place has been a farm for 200 years. I am not willing to give up the life I CHOSE over 15 years ago because of some jerk. I am however at the breaking point.

Wishing you strength and peace.
Hope today "fixes" the worse of the problem for you. I don't know if it'll completely fix until they move away.
I'll be watching for your post on the outcome of the day.
Deep cleaning breaths and a cup of tea....
Take care of yourself. Angie

pyrnad get mad....very very mad. These people are trying to break you down, don't let them. You have the law on your side, and everything has been documented. You have done everything the right way. Maybe it's time to start firing back with the legal system. Get an attny. and file harrassment, trespassing, or whatever you can against them. As a citizen you need to look at every option and go at it with gusto.
These people remind me of a family that my dad had problems with when I was a child. I won't go into the details, it's a long story, but the bottom line is that they pulled every dirty trick in the book, physically and emotionally. They thought he wouldn't fight back but he did. Dad won and they pretty much got run out of town. A couple members of that family actually spent some time in jail because of it. It wasn't fun or easy, but dad used the law to his advantage and didn't back down for an instant.

I know how hard this is for you, but I have to think that this is a short-term problem. You've been there 15 years, they won't be there much longer. From the sound of it either they are going to jail, or you will own their land, or both.

seems everyone has atleast one idiot for a neighbor..
I have the shooting, firecracker bottlerocket type.. he owns less than an acre yet seems to think he owns the rights to be noisey and have his bullets land God knows where. well this morning I put up a temporary privacy fence.. LOL 23 bales of alfalfa (big round bales..) that should slow down a bullet and maybe give him a clue..
The bales are positively on our property.. so if he sets them on fire or anything he will end up paying for them..
He is a nice guy.. I just think he has no common sense thathe is disrupting and being reckless with firearms. pyrnad I wish you luck

It's been said, but I will say it again. As long as your survey is good (certified & recored according to local law) go ahead and build what ever fence you want . Make sure it is to local code. And just to be safe build it a least six inches to a foot inside your property line. That way if they touch it, you can charge them as criminals as well suit they in civil court because the fence belongs to you and is on your property. If it is on the line or if they pay for half of it they will have the right to do as they please to their half which will obviously end up effecting you in the end.

All is done. They left at 5am this morning. The surveyor and PD came did the line, and I was right in the mark(I showed the surveyor the photos when he was done). The string line is up. If they touch it they will be in big trouble. PD left a note on the door for them to call and an officer would come to go over what was done this am, and that they are not to touch the string or cross it for any reason. I will keep you all posted.

Glad to hear it pyrnad. Maybe you'll get lucky and they will disappear again for an extended vacation. Perhaps get the fence up while they're gone, too.
Get some rest, you've earned it.

Best of luck to you with this. I think it is everyone here's nightmare to have neighbors like that.
Wish you could build a solid privacy fence 10 or 12 feet high, all along the common property line with them!

i'm sorry i'm the one to tell you this late in life , but there are truly bad people in the world.
they need no reason ,no provocation, they have the morals and decision making skills of the average 2 year old.
i do hope that you never meet one in person, if you do i apologise in advance it was probably one of my cousins, why btw brag about the stunts they have pulled on "fools".
->pepper who hopes ms.prynad gets a concealed weapon permit from the sherrif 'cause even one of my cousins shuts the hell up when mr. smith or mr. wesson is known to be around.
