A friend had a huge Koi pond in her front yard. One day she saw a Heron standing on the edge and within minutes he'd gulped down several of her fish. Furious she ran out and chased him away but he just came right back. He would even stand on her dock while fishing out her Koi! Her pond has a fountain so she turned it on, didn't effect him in the least. He seemed to kinda like it. I don't know what became of that bird but when her husband came home it disappeared never to be seen again. You just can't have something like that feeding on your pond. Snappers were shot but they won't say what happened to the birds. Hmmmm.

Herons also spread a nasty little worm that burrows into the flesh of perch. The first time we caught some perch out of our pond we found the meat to be riddled with little yellow worms. They were each sorta curled up into a ball. Dh and I had never seen anything like it. I finally found info on the internet about the worms saying they were spread by Herons and Kingfishers. We have both.
This means war

The damnable thing will also eat ducklings. I watched one eat 3 Muscovy ducklings in one day. It eventually got the whole clutch. The Mo Dept. of Conservation swore it didn't happen, said they didn't eat ducklings. They did a lot of mumbling and head scratching when I showed them the pictures.
