Country Bob's!
It was actually October of 1982 when Country Bob, Inc. became the company, which remains today. Bob Edson, Terry Edson, Al Malekovic and Reed Malekovic formed a corporation with equal ownership. Since that time Country Bob's distribution has magnified regionally in all directions from our corporate office located in Centralia, Illinois. Even with the tremendous growth we have not forgotten where we came from, continuing in our relentless pursuit of product excellence.
t would be nice if we could claim responsibility for the success of the company, however, credit must be given where credit is due. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." We have placed true ownership of Country Bob, Inc. in the hands of God. "Christ is our CEO" and He is an Awesome Boss!
We Believe
... in the one eternal God, Creator, Lord and Savior of the world. God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who governs all things to the purpose of His will.
... that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and arose from the dead.
(1 Corinthians 15: 1-8 & John 3:16)
... that the Bible is the inspired word of God - a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
(2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105)
... that every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
(Romans 3:23)
... that forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord.
(John 3:16)
... that those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him.
(Romans 10:9 & Acts 2:38)
... that the Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to bring lost people to know Jesus as Savior and Lord.
(Ephesians 4:1-16)
... that Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Also Country Bob's has a nice newsletter!
I find it pleasing that a product actually PROMOTES morals and integrity.

If it isn't my own home made (and that's never the same sauce twice), then it's a toss-up between Sweet Baby Ray's and the sauce at a local place, Russell's.
Hm.
Wonder what would happen if I mixed Russell's with SBR?
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I think I have an experiment to try this afternoon...
Seems that Chicago has the best BBQ (arguably, of course...) We do take our barbecue seriously around here. There are the "rub only" folks, the "gotta have sauce" people, the crossovers who like both... And hardly a week goes by when there isn't an article on ribs and barbecue and such in the Trib.

Sonny's Sizzlin Sweet served on the side-never drown your meat in sauce. BBQ sauce is like ketchup-if the meat was cooked right to begin with, you don't need to douse it in sauce to add flavor.

At least you got the Sweet Baby Ray's part right.

Yeah, food is fun in Chicago!

Can you get 'southern' food? You know- grits, greens w/ cornbread and potlikker, brown beans cooked with ham hock, biscuits w/ gravy? I imagine that with the influx of poor folks from the deep south during the first half of the 20th century you folks got a lot of good cuisine up there in Chicago--I know you got some great music that way!! I've always wanted to visit Chicago.

Gates and Sons is my favorite. Also Famous Dave's Texas Pit is good, around here the only place to get it at Famous Dave's Restaurant other varieties are sold elsewhere but Pit is only at the restaurant. Sweet Baby Ray's is good too. I've also used Cattleman's before it was available to the public not just restaurants.

And if you like "not to sweet" barbecue sauce, try Woody's. I used that exclusively for many years; my dad did too and he was known for his excellent barbecue.

Oh, yes you can get REAL Southern Food up here... {drooling}
There was a place, don't know if it's still there, called #1 Soul Food Kitchen.
Heaven, just heaven!
I used to work in a racially diverse district, and each ethnic group would host a feast once a month. Oh, when the folk with southen roots got together and cooked... Gave me a gall bladder attack, but it was so worth it!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Need some of these HOMEMADE recipes!! I came to this thread hoping for a pile of great BBQ recipes! Making crock pot pork bbq for DS's birthday today. Guess I'll have to go with the old standby "clean out the fridge BBQ" sauce. So far: 3/4 bottle of spicy french dressing, 1 smidgen of hot mustard sauce, whatever was left in the salsa jar and ketchup bottle. Back to the fridge for some more searching...

In a pinch, I have made some pretty tasty sauce using ketchup, molasses (or brown sugar), onion powder, worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke. No measurements, just do it to taste. Zap it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so if you use brown sugar.
