Ramblin' Acres is a who...lol
She raises goats, chickens, ducks, and Missouri fox trotters. Great gal, she is just real busy so does not get to post as often as she used to.

That's ok Windy! everything sounds good to me. Did you guys decide on a specific place? Something to eat and a dish to pass sounds good to me.

I just first saw this now. That sounds like a great idea. September 9 or 10th works for us. We would love to camp for the weekend but I don't believe I would have anyone to take care of the animals for us. The Waupaca area would work for us. Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help. I am located just west of Wausau.

I will, but I can bring a grill to heat the BBQ . I know that some parks offer grills. I know lake Dexter has grills , you can fish and they have play equipment and tennis courts, campground. Lake Dexter if off hwy 80 just south of Pittsville. ( Wood county )

There is a nice park on the edge of town in Waupaca on Hwy 54. The other nice park I am thinking of is somewhat in town and may be a little more difficult to find.
Lake Dexter sounds fun also. That would also be fine with us if you decide that.
I would be willing to put some money towards the day.

I just thought of something....alot of the parks close their bathrooms on Labor Day for the season.
I need to go pick strawberries now before the birds have a feast! See you in a few hours...

You might look into Stevens Point which is even more centrally located for anyone traveling from the west.

They have a HUGE water front park --- and the last time we were there they has a Frisbee Golf game set up (free).

Perhaps a call to the Chamber of Commerce would yield some information.

Waupaca is about 110 miles for us ---which would be okay-------but Marathon Park in Wausau, or even Stevens Point would be better.

The drive would be even further for any of the posters that live in the hundred *plus* miles of Wisconsin that still lie to the west of me.

If the date works out for us we will be happy to contribute to the Pavillion fees.

Tallpines, are you talking about the park right on the River on the left as you come into St. Point on Hwy 10? I can check and see if they have a shelter, and check to see is restrooms are open. Will post as soon as my Hubby gets home, he grew up in Point.

That sounds like it must be the one---------On the "left" depends on whether one is traveling North or south on 10.
I think it is on the east side of 10 and on the north side of the river.

There is a pavillion ------- but I have no clue as to who you might contact about reserving it.

Do you mean Mead park? Pfiffner Park? (connects to Bukolt Park) These are on the Wisconsin River. All of these are on HWY 10.
Iverson park is on Hwy 10 but on the Plover River.
EDIT* to add: I found the phone number for the Parks Department in Stevens Point; 715-342-1531 for more info...

Sorry I've been absent. I picked 97 pounds of strawberries and froze them all.... I know, I must be crazy! But they will taste SO GOOD in the middle of winter! lol
Plus I'm trying to move to the new homestead.... Yikes!
