for a bee or wasp sting -- grab a leaf off any three different plants and mash them together then apply as a poultice. It draws out the venom. Of course, juicier leaves work better, but leaves of any three differnt plants does work. In the garden, you don't have to run back to the house to put something on the sting.

A tablespoon of sugar for the hiccups. Always works for me.

A note on the apple cider vinegar. It must be the unprocessed variety so that the enzymes haven't been destroyed. Organic unfiltered unprocessed works best. Heinz in the grocery store has been processed and its benefits are limited.

Great thread - thanks.

Stay in the NOW (forget what mr and mrs. jone's family got themselves into, forget about the past and don't worry about the future): prevents accidents, bites, etc.
Go within to find the root of the problem: every illness, disease, ache and pain has a root cause in our psyche. Find the root, question why it's there and if it needs to be, and it goes away.

In our house it was Bag Balm - Mom calls it the "Old Yankee Cure-all". Anytime we got a rash, cut, scrape, or anything Mom's first words would be "Didja put Bag Balm on it??!!". Gotta say it works, too. I've seen it cure diaper rash in a DAY.

So you can imagine my surprise when DH said it didn't help his psoriasis.

For any other ailment, tummy aches, diarrhea, headache... a nice cup of tea works for me - with a bit of honey and lemon.

Blackberry tea for diarrhea: Use a heaping tablespoon (or more) of fresh or frozen blackberries. Pour boiling water over berries and let steep for 7-10 minutes. Crush the berries with a spoon to get the last bit of juice out, then strain. Add a 1/2 tsp. sugar for taste.

This is a very mild remedy; drink as needed. I had a couple bouts of the stomach-flu this winter, and the blackberry tea was excellent for curing some scary diarrhea. I think it's stronger if you use blackberry leaves or roots, but I've heard the leaves can release a toxin so I stayed with the berries.

My Finnish half of the family firmly believes in 3 cure-alls-
1) Sauna
2) Pine tar
3) sulfur

The forth cure-all is bloodletting aka cupping. I've passed this one up. These Finns are all in their 90s with their minds & bodies intact and their own homes, so I guess the above won't do much harm either.

Sorry, did you mean half and half with water? I could have used that remedy a couple of weeks ago for someone! For burns, we usually used that Noxema cream but does it stink! Not sure if it really works either, but you thought it did, so you felt better.
Sorry about the long time to reply. You mix the apple cider vinegar with water. then apply with a washcloth and do not rinse.
Blessings,
Jennifer

Something got me tonight!

Came in from weeding the garden and found a hard lump on my leg about the size of a big pea. No apparent sign of a bite, but sore to the touch. Obviously, something got me! My DH said he saw it flying away pukeing and gagging! Now, that was not nice! Oh, by the way, the potato thing with the warts does not work. Any more ideas, I am open for suggestions. (Junklady)
