Who here lives in Oregon?

SkizzlePig 06/14/06 01:29 PM

We're in Oregon ... Portland, actually Gresham to be specific. Of course, when we get our homesteading land it will likely be southern Orgon. No where near the People's Republik of Multnomah County. What part of Oregon are you in?

Freeholder 06/14/06 01:33 PM

I live near Klamath Falls.

Kathleen

sbeerman 06/14/06 01:46 PM

roughingit 06/14/06 02:44 PM

I'm stuck in Eastern Oregon for now, but next week I'll be back on the green side! Yippee! I miss trees, and rain, and water and being able to introduce myself without some racist glaring at me because my name "isn't white enough". Yes, I'm weird, I actually *like* all the rain and I miss it when I'm away. :)

ozarkmomma 06/14/06 04:22 PM

My sister lives in Siletz.

tobo6 06/14/06 06:49 PM

iocane 06/16/06 11:12 AM

If any of you are ever in my area, I have a fruit stand. We could exhange information, or barter. I grow peaches, corn, strawberries, marion berries, pumkins, bird house gourds, raspberries, tomatoes, peppars, etc.

Freeholder 06/16/06 01:59 PM

Iocane, what IS your area, LOL!

Kathleen (near Klamath Falls)

Wags 06/16/06 06:56 PM

I'm in the mid willamette valley - but I've lived all over this state. Moved back up north a almost 2 years ago after 8+ years in Grants Pass. Missed the green, and got sick of all the californicators taking over things down there.

naturegurl 06/16/06 07:06 PM

sandie, I used to live in cave junction, one of my fav areas in that part of the country, its so beautiful.

natybear 06/17/06 01:00 AM

I live in Forest Grove, 26 miles west of Portland. But during the school year I live in Corvallis, Go Beavs (Oregon State) :)

Natalie

Cara 06/17/06 09:44 AM

Wags...we must be fairly close.

Did Little Quacker already post?

natybear.....Corvallis is a nice town. For a town. We were there the first three years we were married while Darrin finished school. Hope school goes well for you! Eat a Woodstock's veggie for me!

iocane 06/17/06 11:06 PM

I went to OSU to. Go Beavs!!!!! I ended up working for them at a agriculture
research station by wilsonville. I am a farmer too, the farm is between silverton and Mount Angel. Which are two small towns close to the state capital, Salem.
The address is 8071 old mount angel hwy. Just a small fruitstand out front. The farm is behind the house and the houses of the neighbors. Sort of like living in the suburbs, exept behind the house is not a small yard, theres a whole farm there. If you ever been to the gallon house covered bridge by silverton, the farm with the huge walnut tree with a "D" carved into it is owned by my parents.

BMav 03/12/13 10:39 PM

I'm here in Selma, which is 8 miles from Cave Junction and 20 miles from Grants Pass. You blink when going through it you will miss it.

Gritty 03/12/13 11:04 PM

Ashland---my husband grew up in SoCal. When he graduated high school he paid a friend $50 to take him as far north as possible. Ashland was his home for five or so years, then a couple of moves and now back to Ashland.

KIT.S 03/13/13 12:29 PM

Hi folks. We're 20 miles east of Albany. We've been in Oregon 20 years now (where does the time go??) and before that in Alaska for 25.
Kit

THIS is a REALLY old thread, lol. We are in NW Oregon, about halfway between Portland and Astoria. Bmav, we moved here from CJ a couple years ago,I couldnt take the long HOTTTT summers anymore.

Vosey 03/13/13 10:45 PM

We're in the cascades of Southern Oregon. Escaped Medford about a year ago. It's been 10 years since we had land and gardens, feels so good!!!

And this is an OLD thread!

K.B. 03/13/13 11:29 PM

North side of Jackson county here.

SilverVista 03/13/13 11:53 PM

Iocane, who the heck are ya? **I** live between Silverton and Mount Angel!! The red barn directly below the Abbey bell tower, in fact. :)

Oh, wait... I just read your second post. Melody, is that you??? What a small world. We used to share a Littau harvester with your folks, about 1985.

I managed a propagation nursery in Canby for 20 years. Now I commute to Corvallis (OSU -- GO BEAVS!!) 114 miles round trip, 3 days a week to manage inventory and accounting for a hydraulics shop. We've got Angus cattle, registered Oxford sheep, and for about 2 more weeks, 3 hogs.

HoofPick 03/14/13 12:02 AM

I'm in the Willamette Valley, about an hour south of Portland.

SilverVista and all-I live in Silverton, 13 miles East of Salem. I am saving for a few acres nearby but land is going for 100K per acre near town, and this is where I want to be. Gotta keep workin', saving. My girlfriend has a place with 1 1/2 acres in town and she has 9 chickens and we're putting in a 40 x 40 garden this Spring.

Seeria 03/22/13 07:47 AM

Nothing wrong with updating an old thread :)

We're around Coos Bay area for now, still searching for the right place to set up our little homestead. Looking at this area, Jackson county and some of eastern Oregon (east of Bend or maybe even as far as Burns).

Last I looked I was floored that land in Bonanza was $10 an acre! But I bet not much grows there but Juniper. Land is definitely cheaper in the east and you have that amazing big sky and no neighbors! Good luck with your search.

jwal10 03/22/13 11:44 AM

I am here in the Coast range and IF I moved anywhere else it would be the NE corner of the state around Joseph, BUT.... I don't know if that is because my ancestors are calling me. It gets very spiritual for me, around Wallowa lake but any of the land out there NE of Lagrande works for me as long as it has pine trees. My tiny cabin is like a cathedral in the pines....James

jolly rabbit 03/22/13 01:07 PM

we will be on our way up as of june 5th, we will live in Grants pass for a bit with my Father in law (my wife was born and raised) can't wait to get out of los Angeles, I don't belong here, never have! susanneb 03/23/13 03:35 AM

In the hills between Scappoose and Vernonia -- at the edge of the outback, but only 30 minutes northwest of Portland, so we have the best of both worlds and the perfect place for animal and nature loving musicians!
