There was one Parcel up there that a couple had put Electric in.It was on the right side of the road. There was a pond back there.

Anyway we bought our place off Neil 13 years ago. We're 25 miles from Lebanon.Going the other way.

Jokey - which parcel letter did you purchase? I was going to buy parcel A at one time but figured I'd never get up there, so didn't go thru, but I've driven to Marks before.

We'll be living in our tent till we get a shelter up. Lots of hard work ahead of us but we are excited and mostly prepared.
We won't be online at the homestead for a long while but we'll check in from time to time at the library.
We'll be keeping journals and taking lots of pictures.
FolioMark will be our visiting neighbor and he has arranged to be at his homestead when we get to ours. He has graciously offered his assistanceto us in setting up our shelter. It is comforting to know we'll have good neighbors.
Lots of work here to do yet getting rid of stuff and getting ready.
just wanted to share our excitement!!

jnap - thanks for letting your fellow Missourians know about the campout...just incase ya'll have missed it ... the thread is titled: "4th Annual Homesteaders Buffalo River..."

cowbaby, Jokey, linn, Hummingbird, Christj -- ya'll are all invited to come spend the weekend of September 8th, 9th, and 10th (or any part thereof) with us at Steele Creek Campout grounds, near Ponca (South of Harrison) Arkansas.

Bostonlesley is planning on being there, Big Rockpile and Tina have been to a few of our get togethers so they can vouch for us if you are leary of meeting new people. Speaking of which - Big Rockpile are you and Tina going to be able to make it this time?

Hope to see ya'll there,

Hugs
Marlene

Jokey and family,

Welcome to Missouri! I grew up around the Cape Girardeau are. Made the move to AR to be with my partner, Dennis (Westwood) last year.
Looking forward to meeting all of you!

My grandpa homesteaded near Competition, MO. Lived there till my dad was 14, then moved to Lebanon (that was some 60 years ago. LOL). That's some beautiful country.

Congrats,

Your only an hour and a half from Baker Heirloom seeds; it's worth the trip to Ava to visit. Make sure you check his hours/days open because they are a almost banker's hours.

Twogun: The Jokeys and I are about 6 miles from Competition straight down
the Anthony Road and a little jog over on TT. We used to go to the little cafe/store in Competition for breakfast until they closed up. yes its some beautiful country, specially in early spring when they cut the first hay.

Maybe you can answer an historical question for us. Our land is on what was a farm that was bought up by Ozarkland.com and divided up and named Origanna Woods. On county maps, just beyond where our road meets TT, there is a village called Origanna, that once had a post office, but there is absolutely nothing there now that says there was anykind of settlement you might call a village. No church or old store building not even a farmhouse. Do you ever remember there being anything there called Origanna? Just curious.
