My grandfather had a massive one that we climbed in and came down blue tipped and lipped. His currant bush was twenty feet across and we loved it also. Have never tried it but would tossing a play snake onto the tree keep the birds away like they do in Cherry trees? I tie a string onto them to move them around occasionally.

There is a single mulberry tree on my Grandmother's farm. From my understanding, it was planted specifically as the bird's love it and raid it, while leaving other crops alone. However, if you can get to them before the birds they are really sweet tasting.

Be forewarned though, they do stain your hands worse than blackberries!
