I wonder if this might be easier: call the providers in your areas of preference and ask them exactly where their coverage areas are, and limit your searches to those areas.

It would at least save you from falling in love with a place only to learn the access isn't there.

I do sympathize. DH and I both worked from home when we moved here and high speed internet was a necessity. We had satellite at first but about 5 months ago DSL came through. It was a fluke, hardly anyone in the area has it. I think some main line goes down our highway from A to B without meandering while it's in the area. Lucky us!

Indeed, it would certainly be easier if they would provide me with a coverage area, however, I have called several DSL providers and asked this question only to be told "we do not have that available." Basically, I have to provide them with an address AND telephone number to verify if it is available. it is a huge hassle.

Wow, you really lucked out with the DSL thing. I also think part of our problem right now is that there just is not a lot of real estate inventory in NY. Everybody wants what we want!
