DH usually cuts his hair from his ears forward and I cut the hair on the back of his head. We got Wahl electric clippers from WalMat about 6 years ago and he hasn't paid for a haircut since then.

My hair is longer so it took a while for me to talk DH into trimming my hair, but he finally consented to do the deed about 4 years ago. I trim my own bangs as needed.

Cutting each others' hair has saved us a lot of money and time!
Go for it!

For about $50 you can get a Flowbee vacuum robocut .

http://www.haircut.com/

check the website for particulars.
I've had one for several years. It will pay for itself in the first few uses and does a quick decent cut on your hair. You can set the lenght of cut. Trimming is the only thing left that it may not do so well around the neck and ears.
You only need a vaccum cleaner to attach the hose which will collect the hair so there is no major clean up and it sucks the hair as it cuts, so it leaves a clean cut on your head.
I use a shop vac to attach the unit. works well!

Put the 1" blade guard on and my DH clips me...no one laughs...in fact at work they ask me why I'm growing my hair out if it gets to my ears!! Son has been buzz cutting since 12 years old...now the Army does it for him but we haven't paid for haircuts in a long time. DEE

My hubby bought a complete set of wahl clipper with all the attachments. I've been doing his hair and the kids for 4 1/2 years now. I only messed up once and put a just about bald stripe up hubby's head so he ended up with an all-over just about bald look.

I can't imagine doing it yourself and getting it right unless you just shaved your head bald
