Well darn! Glucose tests came back at 88 (normal is 80-117) and cholestral at 182. I thought for sure that one of those would be messed up and a cause of the problems. I still have the doctor's appointment next week, so I guess I'll have to go from there.
I tried taking 2 benedryls before I went to bed one night this past week. The "itchies" disappeared after about 1/2 an hour, and I slept well and didn't really get them again until the following evening. Of course, I was loopy at work all the next day, too. So that wasn't a good thing! I've gone back and looked at work I did that day....whew! Talk about TYPOs!!!!
Often lately I can hear my heart beating in just one ear. Just a whoosh-whoosh sound. More often when I'm stressed or laying down. Could that be an allergy-related problem, too?
That scared me a few years ago and I had it checked out. They ran all kinds of tests (MRIs, x-rays, etc.) and never found a reason. It disappeared on it's own. At the time, in addition to that noise, I was having trouble talking and making sense of other people talking. And forgetfulness. I think it was eventually all chalked up to stress. Actually, now that I think about it.... it was 8 years ago and I got a divorce after that and everything cleared up. Ha.

If the Benadryl worked, it's probably allergies. If it's allergies, it could be allergies to one thing or to a million. My philosophy is, I have to live in the world and don't have the time to figure out everything I'm allergic to. So I control for dust mites and mold as much as I can, keep the windows closed during pollen season and take allergy pills.
I don't like most allergy pills. The only ones I'll use are Benadryl and Dimetapp for children. The Benadryl makes me sleepy so I only take it at night, and I use the Dimetapp when allergies strike me unaware but I can't be sleepy.

I can't take antihistamines either and suffered for years with allergies. Then I discovered Vitamin C. 1,000 mg per tablet, taken as needed. And using the better vitamins really does make a difference. Those ones in the K or Walmart are not as effective. I used Solaray.
I've also had the itchy legs problem and started making my own olive oil soap, which has helped a lot. You may have a very toxic body, the fact that you acknowledge that you don't drink enough water is indication enough. Try going on a detox program and see if that doesn't help. It will take months or even years to detox your body, but you will find that your symptoms lesson as time goes on.

Any suggestions? I've read advertisements for Detox programs, but they seemed very expensive. Any herbal remedies/teas? I believe the programs I saw advertised were lots of pills, etc.
I took two Benedryl again last night, and I can tell that I'm still loopy (I've corrected my typos twice so far!) but it didn't help the itchies much this time.
I really need to remember to bring water with me to work! I refuse to drink the stuff here. It comes out of the faucets brown until it runs awhile. Ugh.

Use Claritin. It won't make you drowsy, and one tablet is good for 24 hours. That's what my Dr. recommended for my eczema and so far it's working well. The generic name is Loratadine.

One of my nurses who allergic to Benedryl takes Tagamet (cimetidine) when she has to take a med she is allergic to- the Tagamet (available OTC) also helps against histamine release.

DD does both zantac and claritin to avoid hives during tree pollen. Skin has both h1 and h2 receptors her dr said. Neither make her sleepy or loopy.

Other responses that seem to be hitting the nail on the head....
I DO have thyroid problems
I AM pre-menopausal (ugh)
I AM very stressed at this point in my life
There IS diabetes in my immediate family and I have problems (although not diagnosed with diabetes)
I have chronic allergies, but don't take anything.
Hmmmmm....
I think I'm going to call a GP right now and make an appointment to have my thyroid levels and sugar levels tested again.
I really don't want to take antihistimes....they put me to lala-land instantly. I can't function after I take an antihistime. That's why I just suffer with the chronic allergies and don't do anything.
Thanks for your responses!

I was able to get rid of my allergies by eliminating all of the chemicals that I used to come into contact with. I switched to all natural soaps, deodorants, toothpaste, anything that touches me. I started eating all organic, free-range, anti-bioticless, no pesticide foods. I wear rubber gloves when working on my car and/or handling any and all chemicals. I stopped eating sugar and drastically reduced my alcohol consumption. My allergies weren't very severe but they were getting progressively worse so I had to do something. My allergies have been completely eliminated as a result. I hope this information helps you, email me if you have any questions.
